Edy Williams appeared as a "dream girl" in 1987's "They Call Me Mr. Trunk" episode of Sledge Hammer! (where a virus infected-prisoner is brought into the precinct, and a side effect is for people to hallucinate; the policeman fantasizing about Edy hears the forty-five-or-six-year-old exclaim, "Make love to me... now and forever."

"I just look in the mirror and I say, 'God, it's really fantastic, the Lord really gave me something.' So why on earth should I cover any of it up?'"

Doesn't that exemplify the lady's bold and provocative style? The professional publicity hound continues to make waves even with her antics from the past (as you may see if you search for the image below on the web, and take note of the attention it's still getting); this was the outrageous costume Edy wore at the 1986 Academy Awards ceremony — as I learned from this page entitled, "7 Most Controversial Oscars Moments Ever."

These represent the times Edy has caused a stir at the Oscar ceremony. 1) 1974. 2) 1980 (photo by Phil Roach). 3) 2000.
4) 2014. At least that's the way the last one was identified at Edy's now-dormant web site. (She was in her early seventies.)

Wanting to confirm whether Edy was actually behind the quote (listed above) or not, I tried to find the source. The only information I found was that the quote was attributed to the untrustworthy Wikipedia — but when I visited their page for Edy Williams, there was no sign of the quote. That page did, however, second the contention of the starter of this thread, Member "Backdoorman" (who has been very quiet since hooking up with VEF from all the way back in 2006, with barely over a hundred posts; he's still signing in, bless his heart), providing the birth year of "1942" for Ms. Williams. The actress' IMDb page has instead provided a year of 1941. (So whom do we trust, the error-ridden Wikipedia, or the error-ridden IMDb?)

I did not go through this thread, but an in-thread search for something else landed me on page 13, where a 2018 post by Joszka is currently sitting on top. Our dedicated member had put up pages from a 1971 French magazine article on Edy Williams, and the photo with the dog hit me. Why, I had put up a photo of that lady with the dog, and don't remember preparing anything about Edy Williams (not that such serves as proof, since by now I have put up posts which take me by surprise when I re-visit). Running a search, I see I was thinking about (as seen in the last shot, taken from that 2022 contribution) what I had prepared for the "American Actresses ~ Vintage" thread, and the examined woman was another Russ Meyer actress (Edy was married to the big boob lover from 1970 to 1975), named Mora Gray. Did the magazine mistake Edy for Mora? (Since Mora's name is nowhere in sight?) I just went through the trouble of translating the caption: "In the movie '7 Minutes' you will see many pretty lilies in thesis and naked. Above the secretary of the lawyer Mike Barrett." Dash it all, when are these French magazines going to learn to write in English?

The plan was to put up the shots of Edy in Sledge Hammer and then split, but don't I know by now what a trap VEF is. I came across this video that excerpted Edy's appearance in Lost in Space ("Two Weeks in Space," 1967), and couldn't resist adding the following views:

One may see from Edy's IMDb filmography that the lady has appeared in almost sixty titles, which was not a bad run (and she was capitalizing on her sex appeal almost to the end, as with her last role of consequence, in Fred Olen Ray's Bad Girls Go to Mars from 1990, where the tall — at 5′ 7″/1.70 meters — troublemaker irresistibly removed her clothing once again), but then I noticed her very first appearance, as an uncredited chorus girl in The Twilight Zone.

1990 was also the year when Edy was hired to perform as a dancer in a music video
called FASTER PUSSYCAT: YOU'RE SO VAIN, inspired by 1965's FASTER, PUSSYCAT!
KILL! KILL! that was directed by Russ Meyer. Isn't that cool? (What a great homage
to Meyer, by hiring his one-time wife.) Next is a photo that was a part of her IMDb
page's photo gallery, which I am using despite the likelihood that it has already been
put up on this thread, because she looks so adorable.

Edy was around twenty-years-old in her episode of The Twilight Zone, which fans may recall as the one where a ventriloquist, played by Cliff Robertson (first shot below), has issues with his scary dummy. Edy had to be one of two brunettes who were given lines and prominent screen time (because the other performers are in the background, and from what may be made out, none look like Edy. In fact, the two brunettes don't look much like Edy to me, either!).



The episode's IMDb page's photo gallery has identified the two uncredited chorus girls as the pair highlighted here, one as Edy Williams, and the other actress's name was said to be Bethelynn Grey — who has no other screen credit. (So how in the world did some IMDb contributor come up with the name of Bethelynn Grey?)


The one on the right has a bigger nose.

The odds are, Edy had to be one of these two performers, and since Edy looked so different at twenty than the later times she came to be recognizable, which one was Edy? I wasn't sure while collecting these views, in the hopes I would have a better idea once the "evidence" was in. The way I narrowed Edy down was though a shot where the two brunettes were in profile. (Note how the noses looked different in the photo directly above.)

I wanted Edy to be the one from the right, since she was prettier; I guess that gal is the mysterious
"Bethelynn Grey," but maybe I'm wrong. Maybe Edy will turn out to be the one from the right.

I went to my copy of Hellhole (1985) to get views of Edy's profile. I resisted the urge to collect captures from this film, as it had been covered extensively on the thread. (This is a great sleaze film, by the way, with a wonderful cast. I see Edy was very generous with the access she allowed for her spicy sapphires; you have to love the lady for her unshakable spirit.)

Edy makes a play on the younger woman, played by Natalie Main, who has shown up on this thread a couple of times and once in the "Classic
American Lesser Known Celebrities" thread. A tough broad (Ann Chatterton, 1941-2018) challenges Edy to a fight, for moving in on her girl.
Natalie has appeared in only one other film, and deserves a medal for revealing her all in HELLHOLE.

At any rate, the fact that Edy's nose did not come straight down as the other woman's (who was very beautiful, and she acted well, too. How odd this other actress apparently did not go on to do other things in the business) is what made me settle on which one was Edy. Assuming I was correct, by the end of the episode, Edy and another chorus girl descend down the stairs to bid the troubled ventriloquist a good night (as seen in the last pair).

You know what? After publishing this post, I took an overall look at the page. The Lost in Space shots looked a lot more as the prettier chorus girl (who was just as tall as the one from above). Now I'm leaning toward the prettier one. (This is why Administrator Sam Spade is our resident detective, since I make for a lousy private dick.)
