Finally, someone who is in my and Grego's boat. Why is this arbitrarily happening?

That you can't even VPN in at the moment is going to stop me from bothering with getting a VPN up and running. What's the point?

Does anyone know what/who is hosting the Adult Loop Database? I'd like to see if I can ping/access their servers? Maybe it's not a contents specific issue (read: IP block) but a server misconfiguration issue on the host?

Another possibility is the host is under a DOS attack of some sort. That would definitely cause timeout problems.

I'm not so sure it's that cut and dried anymore. We have people in the US who can access it and we have people in the US who can't.

As has already been suggested, perhaps try a VPN to access them as it may be blocked for your country.

Before Zippyshare finally closed completely for everyone, they were blocked in the UK. For modding purposes whenever I wanted to check if a link was dead or not with that host, I had to use a VPN. Otherwise it would look like they were gone. Anyone outside the UK & it worked fine. So might be what is going on here.

For a handy VPN I usually use Opera browser as it has one built in that is quick & easy to use.
FWIW, that basic Opera VPN has about 4 locations and I think that the Epic privacy browser has about double that.

Is it possible that they use some very nervous system that blocks potential attackers?

What just happened:

adultloopdb.nl loads (tested only frontpage)
ping adultloopdb.nl works, connects to 136.144.169.86
ping 136.144.169.86 doesn't work
ping adultloopdb.nl doesn't work
adultloopdb.nl doesn't load

new IP

adultloopdb.nl loads again (tested several pages)
ping adultloopdb.nl works, connects to 136.144.169.86
ping 136.144.169.86 works
ping adultloopdb.nl works
adultloopdb.nl loads (tested several pages)

Either this or random hiccups.

I sincerely doubt it. Etu has been AWOL for 2 plus years now. I fear he is no longer with us and the site is a rudderless ship. I think your second assessment is correct.

I downloaded Epic. Non VPN access timed out. First attempt at a VPN connection was only partially successful...I got unformatted text and no images on the main page - the site didn't load properly. I refreshed and it timed out. Then tried several other VPN locations in Europe and Singapore. They all timed out.

This is looking more and more like an interference problem of some kind.

If someone can get in can you relay back here what provider is doing the hosting for the site? There may be a reference to the host on the main page (probably at the bottom).

I want to check and see if there's an ongoing DNS attack going on. There are places that track such stuff and if the ALD isn't using Crowdstrike or something similar a DNS attack would explain what's going on.

I'm in California and I can access adultloopdb.nl right now without a VPN no problem. Windows 10 PC, connected via Brave, Chrome, Firefox, and Opera (with and without using VPN).

Here are a couple of screengrabs of the forum and the bottom of the main page. No indication of who is hosting the website that I could find.

Meanwhile, using DNS lookup from CMD and the IP address Frovo provided, I was able to get a name of de.verhuiser.nl. I then tried to search on that name and it timed out. So I removed the country code and searched on de.verhuiser and got some hits. I clicked one and got a good readout of information which I then saved as a PDF and you can access it here.

TransIp is the host for the databse.

That's about as far as I can get with this as I am increasingly out of my depth. I read Krebs On Security and that helped me get this far but I'm no expert on monitoring web traffic/packet issues.
