I have only seen one vintage H&E magazine where it has been featured, the photos being quite rudimentary and uninteresting. Shame that there's not more. Oh well...it's a good "what did you do in lockdown story."

An interesting question! My speculation FWIW...

Although naturists/nudists like beach activities eg sunbathing, beach sports and games eg swimming, snorkeling. Because nudity and water are are a practical mix - skin is waterproof and quick drying, no damp clammy swimwear, no tanlines, no changing cabins, no towel dance, no swimsuit needed, no bikini body needed, plus friendly fellow naturists. Only potentially spoilt by voyeurs taking photos which end up on the internet.

I am not a scuba diver but I think there are two reasons:

1. Coastlines suitable for beaches (naturist or textile) are probably not suitable for scuba which needs some depth. I imagine diving off a boat some distance from the beach is more common. Most beaches (if they have a shallow slope) require a long? walk into the sea. I don't think most textile beaches have scuba diving either, although they may have people in wetsuits/drysuits (without air tanks) for warmth and bouyancy eg if surfing.

2. Naturist beach activities do not need additional equipment or training. But if you want to do scuba diving you need training and special equipment eg air tanks. Training is in a textile environment where you would meet (and stay with?) fellow enthusiasts. I think solo scuba is not considered safe - buddies are recommended. So a naturist couple or small group of friends ALL into scuba diving AND naturism would be needed. But if they are in a boat some way from the beach they would not be noticed - naked or not.
