Littlewoods, Kays, Grattan etc catalogues - Page 3

Remember flicking through my aunts Kays/ Brian Mills catalogues when I was about 13 and came across a 2 page spread, something about an entire outfit for one set price, with the very beautiful girl shown in full dress taking off each item to reveal the hat...coat..blouse..underwear etc.
Very tame by modern standards but my young mind found this incredibly erotic...kind of a strip-tease spread without the adult mags.
Bonus points for the fact she also wore a satin underwear with slip.

Got to agree with 4afriend and martyghia. I love slips and half slips, wish the catalogues you guys mentioned can be seen again today. Would love to see Kay/Brian Mills catalogues. Thanks, Saaumm.

I suppose this is partly relevant. I worked for a while at BMOC, which was the distribution arm for G.U.S. (Great Universal Stores. Or Give Us Strength, as we used to say), which owned all those catalogue titles: Kays, Brian Mills, John England etc. Pages from the unreleased 'new' catalogues were quite often found in the men's toilets. Er, and it has also to be noted, sometimes men in their underwear photos as well.
Nothing new under the sun, as they say.

Yup, got mine in the post today. 5 Argos catalogues, a 1990 Grattan, 1982 Kays, 1974 John Noble, 1959 Littlewoods, 1947 Littlewoods.

They come as pdf files ranging from 64 to 510 Mb depending on number of pages (one being over 1000). Scan quality is good to my eyes. Some of the catalogues have been disassembled for flat scans, others are still bound and have the inevitable blurring near the gutter. The earlier ctalogues are a combination of drawn and photographic image, the others are as I remember from the late 70s / early 80s.

Worth the cost in my opinion.
