![]() .
I recall an interview with Burt Reynolds where he said he had been known to be (at least in his opinion, but I believed him. It's Burt Reynolds, for God's sake) "carnivorous" with women. I thought, what a great word to describe those of us men who have such a passion for women, that when we get lucky, the opportunity presents itself for us to do some devouring of our own. Judy Carne was Burt's first wife. (See the last photo three posts up, for a 1963 wedding picture. (Thanks, "SanteeFats," for including this one back in 2018.) The next question then becomes: Could Burt have been thinking of Judy Carne, when his mind turned to carnivorousness? ![]() A view of Judy from her U.N.C.L.E. episode, as featured below. I am looking at the last post above. Appreciation to Member "Cuzzyman," because when he went on his web round to dig up pictorial references for Judy Carne, he made sure to mainly focus on shots that revealed Judy's flesh or form as much as possible. (He offered two shots of Judy with James Garner and James Coburn in the middle of the post. I recognized these, because not long ago I prepared a post featuring Judy dressed in a towel or nightgown, along with two other sexy actresses who were cast as Coburn's "broads." The views are from The Americanization of Emily. EDIT: Later noticed Wendigo's photo directly above Cuzzyman's post, from the same film. This photo was particularly great, and Judy looks fantastic.) I always thought Judy was the favorite "Sock It to Me" girl with her beautiful looks and hidden sex appeal, instead of her primary Laugh-In "rival," Goldie Hawn. Goldie reached great heights of stardom afterwards, when poor Judy, who unwisely quit the show that made her famous after two seasons, sank into oblivion. She landed rinky-dink parts, as with "Hotline Office Worker" in a 1976 episode of Police Woman. Five years would pass before she appeared twice in an obscure British TV series, and nearly a decade for a role as a homeless woman in the obscure 1993 independent shot in New York City's Lower East Side, What About Me. ![]() Judy in her last role, with the film's star. Three genuine IMDb reviewers regard What About Me as a "rare gem." In case you may be interested in finding out firsthand. Her marriages appear to have been disastrous (the split-up resulting from the one with Burt was particularly acrimonious), and the main times she received attention in the press regarded the tragedies in her life, resulting from arrests and accidents. Little could anyone predict that the former "Sock It to Me" girl would go on to be cast in the role of the latter in "Punch and Judy." She evidently spilled her guts in her 1985 autobiography, Laughing on the Outside, Crying on the Inside. She died in her native England from pneumonia, at the age of seventy-six, in 2015. Since few know of the lady's roles outside of Laugh-In, what makes the situation sadder is that Judy Carne was a pretty good actress. This was apparent in her appearance from The Man from U.N.C.L.E.'s second season episode of "The Ultimate Computer Affair," from 1965. As a well-written review (from the "Preppies of the Apocalypse" site) for the episode described it, Judy played the "splendidly-named Miss Salty Oliver," following the tradition of catchy female names in spy fare, as with "Pussy Galore" and "Mary Goodnight." If the review's words may be borrowed to describe what is happening with the set of photos that follows: "...Salty steps into the changing room and removes her clothes. The secret door leading into U.N.C.L.E. headquarters flips open, and an underwear-clad Salty is greeted by the sight of Napoleon and the receptionist smirking at her." ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() (Naturally, the scene needed to be spotlighted for this VEF post, given the sexual suggestiveness, and the "revealing" of Judy's physique, although there wasn't much to reveal given that she may as well have been wearing an overcoat. All right, in defense, her character was meant to be "mousy" and "high strung," as the reviewer nicely put it.) Further shots of Judy from the episode, featuring her delightfully upturned nose. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() . Last edited by Findcandor; November 12th, 2021 at 07:41 PM.. |
