Thanks for the responses from Ernesto and Highwayman.
First: Which problem exactly? Did you use a software from Microsoft? Not quite sure what this means. The notes or reminders I've put on MS Calendar have vanished. I'm not sure what else I can say. I use some software from MS, like Office. Nothing connected to the Calendar. Second: I had a similar problem with the MS Outlook Calendar on my Win 8.1 desktop PC. I found a "fix" for it (link below) but have found that it is not permanent. I don't actually use Outlook for any purpose. I use Thunderbird for email and some webmail. I just use Calendar in the simplest sense with no links. It has crossed my mind that the last significant Windows 10 update might have some bearing on this. Thanks for the link, which I've had a look at, but I don't think this is quite the answer in my case. |

You could perhaps restore your system just before the upgrade. To do this, you go to the parameters: there you have an option "upgrades". If the upgrade on your machine is not to old you can restore your system to the state it was before the last upgrade. |

If you insist on using certain software by Microsoft, at least you can take the precaution of backing up what parameters you want to change. Of course to do that you cannot rely on Microsoft for the backups and the restores. I hope this help. |

I intend to ditch Windows 10
I had problems after uploading the last Microsoft's upgrade.
I lost three days before locating the new problem. I really am fed-up with Microsoft's upgrades. So I am seriously looking toward Apple's OS. I intend to buy a new machine at Apple's this time and to have a dual boot system for the apps which run on Microsoft only. The documentation at Apple's store looks complete. I suppose some of you have already done it and any feedback would be welcome. |

If it were my decision, i would avoid apple, as it signifies a sucking sound , the sound of your currency being sucked away from you, just to have a working OS. If you must have windows, windows 8.1 is a great OS to have, lots of support into the foreseeable future and decent security. Lots of refurb units for sale with the win8.1 OS installed. I would vote for HP, as they have a more robust windows licensing configuration.

The main trick with new Windows pre-10 systems is preventing them from automatically upgrading to Windows 10. Microsoft has been extremely aggressive in the last two or three years with their updates and "upgrades". That being said, I would have to agree that Apple is not much better. Caveat emptor. |
