Thanks to m100 for rising this interesting topic.

Personally, the wife and I flirted with softcore porn. Our brief flirtation did not endear me to the British industry. The wife was asked to sign a wiaver form, so her photos could have ended-up anywhere. Was British porn ever that good?

My own 2d-worth is that mainstream porn has become so unsubtle that there's really not very much further to go, if anywhere.

Too many current 'productions' are cheap'n'nasty featuring unattractive girls shagging or dogging. There's no finesse, no subtlety and no humour.

I enjoyed some of the pre-internet cottage industry stuff but the deluge of humourless characterless porn on the internet means the thrill is very much diluted.

What has Britain got to offer:
we don't have the beautiful women of central europe, the ability to produce erotic porn like Salieri or Dorcel and the only area where we have succeeded in the past has generally been happy 'amateurs' or at least amateur-ish might be closer to the truth - Fi*na C**per, Ben D*ver, Tamara, a girl next door being a bit naughty or Angie George/Georgina Smith milf type features.

Now I suspect the market has gone global and there's little to be gained from producing domestic porn - virtually as soon as it's made you can d/l for free. See Ben D*ver's attempts to prevent his material being freely distributed.

I suspect there will always be a domestic market for British girl next door and mature women material but the mainstream will be dominated by grunt, tat'd and silicone offerings from the US - where the participants are veering uncomfortably close to resembling grotesques and the idea of a film with a plot and any semblence of erotica is a thing of the past - hence the popularity of Vintage Erotica?

British porn as a viable industry never really existed because the UK authorities didnt want it

Even now they have such backward draconian laws it wouldnt even be possible to have a fully fledged commercially viable industry with everything else in place.

You only need look at how the models could never get enough work there so they either ventured over to Europe or America or stayed at home an escorted on the side.

Now most go the softcore adult TV ie Lolly Badcock or the soft website routes
There a few male performers with their own sites but again seen one seen em all

Threats of legal action...dodgy offerings...bullshit excuses...award shows where products not even on the market won.

The industry insiders during the last STD break out showed just what a shambles the so called industry was...everyone from guys who could never say know to females who were doing bukkake parties with the public all leading the stds flying around for a good year.

They essentially lost any respect they had built up in just 1 year

They had a niche industry when gonzo came about and few names made some different scenes compared to your story based porn but largely its all been pretty much cheap low budget seen one seen them all.

The internet has been saturated with porn for a long long time
That much of that material is low grade and forgettable doesnt help.

You get the occasional performer who stands out but BG porn for mine is over represented by a lot of low grade forgettable scenes - streaming doesnt help because it makes the content a use and forget as opposed to a buy and collect.

Its been shown with music many will listen to it for free on youtube and then buy the CD or online , same with movies & TV series but only when their top quality.

Porn or erotica doesnt seem to have that same appeal for some reason.

Katie K has retired. Over at BGAFD she penned a recent post as to the reasons why she suddenly retired. Apparently she contracted a 'disease' (somewhat vague), but now has made a full recovery.
