I saw Ruby Flipper performing a routine to Paul McCartney's "Silly Love Songs" on BBC4's re-screening of TotPs from 1976 the other day.
Lulu Cartwright was just sensationally lovely. She very much reminds me of Louis Germaine. |

R.I.P Flick Colby
Sorry to report some really sad news this morning
Felicity Isabelle Colby Felicity Colby, affectionately known as Flick, passed away on May 26, 2011 after an astonishingly courageous battle with cancer. Born March 23, 1946 in Hazelton, PA, Felicity was raised and educated in Clinton, NY and Andover, MA. After graduation, Felicity moved to London, UK where she began an exciting 14 year career as a dancer and choreographer with the BBC show "Top of The Pops." To this day, the name Flick Colby warms the heart of men over 40. She was so highly regarded that her portrait hangs in the National Portrait Gallery, London. She was predeceased by her husband, George Bahlke. She is survived by her brother, Thomas; sister, Michal Wadsworth (Jim); nieces, Kathryn and Elizabeth; and friends too numerous to name. There will be a celebration of Felicity's life on June 17, 2011 at 3:00PM at her home in Clinton |

"Choreography by Flick Colby" - a Top of the Pops credit for the ages. Too young. Too soon. RIP.

Cherry Gillespie (again!)
I'm watching the BBC4 re-runs of the 1976 series of Top of the Pops religiously right now, ( a taste of nostalgia from a time when the Beeb actually bothered to put on high quality entertainment catering to all demographics on at prime time, rather than dogshit like EastEnders), and I'm developing a serious infatuation with Cherry Gillespie of Pan's People and Ruby Flipper.
tHe kittenish, demure yet secretly sexy look, the long flowing hair, the way she moves etc etc,all round perfection. And yet, watching these glorious technicolor re-runs, one must pinch oneself to realise that I'm at woman frozen in time from 35 years ago!, watching Cherry on my big, modern flat screen, I keep thinking it was only filmed yesterday. No doubt the gorgeous Cherry is a late middle aged lady right now, but a damn good looking one |
