It is understood that many consider her most common stage name to be Barbie Dahl. However, there are at least three models with that moniker.

1) While widely known as "Barbie Dahl" now, she was not the first to use the "Dahl" name (she started in 1986 and the name had been in use by another since 1984)
2) She has more credits as "Barbie Dahl" (103 total films listed in the IAFD, but in her first few films she was billed as either "Barbie Doll" or just "Barbie")
3) By 1987 she had settled on the name "Barbie Dahl" and would use this for most of her career
4) Patrick Riley's X-Rated Videotape Star Index (1994) lists her as "Barbie Doll" aka "Michelle Matell" (no mention of "Barbie Dahl")
5) Adam Film World Guide annuals for 1990, '91, '92, and '93 list her as "Barbie Dahl" -- the 1990 listing does not have star bios; in the other three her write-up says that "...Barbie got off to a false start in Broadway Fanny Rose, billed as Barbie Doll. For some reason, she changed the spelling to Dahl.* Eager fans should be warned of another Barbie Dahl, a tough-as-nails East Coast brunette who has starred in such forgettable fuckathons as Indiana Joan..."
*Note: The 1993 edition adds the phrase: "and now has returned to Doll in some features."
6) IAFD lists her as "Barbie Doll" with 6 aliases (Barbi Doll, Barbii Doll, Barbi Doll, Barbie Dahl, Barbie Dohl, Michelle Mattel)

For the purpose of avoiding confusion (and for the reasons above), we choose to stay with her IAFD designation of "Barbie Doll" as her main name.
