Hi,
I'm new to the forum and would like to make a request - apologies if this is the wrong section. I'm looking for clips from: 'Glamour Night' (1985 TV play starring Charon Bourke as a model) 'Double Dare' (Dennis Potter play with Kika Markham) The 'duel' sketch from 'The Dave Allen Show' (two old men fight a duel using strippers to give each other a heart attack!) 'Dead Head' (weird detective noir serial with gratuitous nudity) Any of these would be very very welcome! ![]() |

I remember the Duel Sketch and indeed I remember I once had it on a video from the Dave Allen At Large series. I recall it vividly. Two Victorian or Edwardian men in sedan chairs have a disagreement and decide on a duel only with a difference-with their nursemaids stripping off-A great idea for a non PC sketch at the time and if I remember correctly the version shown showed the girls without knickers on(not unusual but definitely rare for the BBC to show that sort of thing) and as you say they both end up kicking the bucket as their hearts can't take the excitement. Been looking for that for years and when they recently (2005) had a tribute to Dave Allen by showing some of his highlights of his past series they didn't show that particular sketch-shame.

I remember "Dead Head"...I was only 20 when it was broadcast in 1986, and still can't much sense of it now, but I do remember the gratuitous nudity in it! Think that must be why I watched it! As far as I know, it's never been released on video or DVD, and it's never been re-shown, so your only hope would be if someone has the 4 episodes taped and can transfer them to DVD...

Hi, thanks for those comments. You're right about how rare these things are. None of them have been commercially released on DVD, and I doubt if they were released on VHS either ('Glamour Night' definitely not - though love to be proved wrong!). I was hoping someone out there might have a huge video archive and a way to transfer it to PC. Probably a pipe dream...
Speaking of the Dave Allen sketch, does anyone know who the two models were? |

Double Dare should be a possibility, it was on TV within the last three years.

Hi,
Thanks for the info on Double Dare - I'd forgotten it was shown as part of a Dennis Potter season (while I was out of the country, naturally). It's amazing how tame TV drama has become since the 80s. The original version of The Bill for example - check out the first series if you've never seen it. |

I have glamour night on vhs taped when it was first shown. Reece dinsdale, rodney bewes and that bloke out the early bill. When I find it do you want the whole epsiode or just the nudity!

God I loved Dead Head. Denis Lawson at his finest. Oddly, I don't remember any nudity. Probably because as a devout Prisoner fan (McGoohan, number 6, that one) I enjoyed the story more than anything.
I also remember the Dave Allen sketch, as it was on, I think, a Sunday night, and seeing naked models on the Beeb on a Sunday was as close to heaven as you dared hope for back in those days ;D Good luck with your search.

http://ftvdb.bfi.org.uk/sift/title/324383 Can't say I recognized any of the actors/actresses in this play, but a quick bit of searching around the IMDB shows that Lorna Heilbron was in an episode of "Blakes 7" as Anna Grant (who I think was Avon's ex-girlfriend) and was also in the Hammer movie "The Creeping Flesh" in 1972, Maggie Wells is probably best known for appearing in 3 series of "Where The Heart Is" in the late '90's, American Beth Porter was in the 70's series "Rock Follies" , Dominique Barnes was in an 80's series called "Father's Day" with John Alderton, Rachel Bell has been in "The Darling Buds Of May" and "Grange Hill"! So hopefully that's given you a bit more info than you'd previously been able to find! |
