I'm one of the fortunate few who saw the movie "Spree" ( aka "Las vegas By Night") which ran very briefly in a few of the "grindhouse" type theaters.

There wasn't much to it as movies go, just a lot of hype about night life in Las Vegas....except for the section that showed Jayne doing her nightclub act. The act was basically a glorified striptease. That was seriously HOT !!! . I remember how steamy and and sexy she was as she eventually stripped down to pasties and a G string. It was so long ago I don't even recall if it went any further than that, but believe me that was plenty!!!

The movie seems to have vanished. Doubtful that any prints have survived as it probably wasn't thought to have any archival value. What a shame! Every now and then a rumor goes around that someone found a copy in their garage or whatever, but so far no one has come forward with an actual print. I still hold hope that one day the movie will materialize and find it's way to DVD so that we get another glimpse of the fantastic Ms. Mansfield.

How to see Jayne in 3D? Hard to explain if you don't know. Remember those crazy wallpaper type designs that came out a few years ago where you had to sort of stare at them out of focus then you would see a 3D rocketship or whatever? That's kind of how it works.

You can practice by using the thumbnails in this post just as they are.

Normally looking at these pictures you see 2 images of Jayne side by side. You have to force your eyes not to look directly at the images.

Pick a thumbnail of Jayne "twins" and start out with your nose just a few inches away from the screen and look straight it but don't focus on it. You have to unfocus your eyes. You should see a double image of the "twins" side by side ( 4 Jaynes, think of it!) that are sort of out of focus and overlapping. Back away slowly. The trick is to adjust your eyes until the 2 sets of "twins" overlap each other and merge just right so you see 3 pictures of Jayne side by side. Probably about a foot away from the screen. When that happens the picture in the middle will be Jayne in 3D! (If the double sets of 2 Jayne twins snap back into just seeing 1 set of twins side by side, you have to start over and try again.)

Once you know how to do it, you can use the larger images these thumbs are linked to for download.

Get it right and Jayne will POPright out of your screen!!

I vaguely remember ads for pictures of her in some skin mag I found shortly after her death - when she could no longer sue. But of course you couldn't get hardcore mail-order in 1967.

She did actually appear in a hard core movie, however the quality was so poor that it would be extremely difficult to actually prove that it was her. This was, I think at the beginning of her career rather than at the end. Hope this is of some value

Jayne's death certificate - as has been previously mentioned, she was NOT decapitated as was widely (and erroneously) reported at the time of her death. According to this document, one of the injuries sustained was "cranial avulsion". This means that the top of her head was taken off, or more accurately, peeled back, exposing the cranium. Sorry to be so graphic...

Here is a link to the box art for the film. I have transferred it, and I can't tell whether this is her or not. I am not sure how they could have released it if it wasn't her without being sued by her estate, unless the money wasn't there to challenge it. Then again there is a Barbara Streisand one floating around as well. Maybe because these were sold underground in the late 60s and early 70s it was hard to track the distributor.

I've seen the supposed Barbara Streisand "porn" video. It is so bad its impossible to prove either way that it is or is not her. (Actually, its been some years but from I remember its soooo bad that I don't believe it is Streisand. It looked like a poorly maintained 1920's vintage film.)

As for Jayne Mansfield, her daughter is the successful actress Mariska Hargitay so I seriously doubt there's a lack of funds to pay for lawyers if they were needed.

I'd be very skeptical of any claims of hard core featuring Jayne. The Box art does suggest something else though. Jayne appeared in a movie called "Spree" aka "las Vegas By Night." It's pretty much a documentary hyping the glitter and flash of that city but it contains a very racy, hot segment of Jayne doing her nightclub act, a burlesque type striptease. It's no hoax, I saw it when it came out and ran briefly as a second feature in a grindhouse type theater. No one has been able to find a print of that film since then to transfer it to tape or disk. Rumors go around every now and then that a copy has surfaced but they never pan out.
It would be a true find if that 8mm film actually contained even an excerpt from the legendary "Spree."
