I really don't know if he used many, if any, Australian actresses? I think not.
I seem to remember that shortly before his death an Australian magazine contacted him to ask what he thought about his name being used as a pseudonym by a porn director*. He refused to be quoted but the general impression I got was that he was less than happy about it. Or to put it another way he was fuckin' livid. Oh and he was gay so unless the films you saw heavily featured boy/boy action I doubt he was responsible.

*IIRC the director of Anal Manor and other anal themed productions for Private - which weren't to bad from memory.

I'm happily homophobic so I don't know of any 'Thring Things' in that field.
I guess Frank was gay. It was somehow alluded to in his mode of speech, although far more menacing, than 'mincing'.
I would have believed he was just seriously hard core, as you say the director assuming his name apparently (I searched) directed a number of fetish films and things (with women) involving double anal, etc.

The film I saw was a scene in an early edition of the "Perverted Stories" series.
Frank's persona would easily have lent itself to directing what was at the time, fairly extreme, although mainstream, fantasy sequences.

I must admit I'm not familiar with the bulk of Frank's work. He was an instantly recognisable character in the many bit parts he had in films.
I recall hearing something of his passing.
I'm not surprised he would be livid, if as you say it is someone using his name/reputation.

Even though our proclivities may be different, I have a lot of respect for the original man's class.

Thats your choice, but when you mix rabid conservatism with apathy it means you have a country where things like freedom of speech do not count. Local production may not be critical at the end of the day, but being able to get porn if you want it should be important, I would have thought. THATS worth manning the barricades for? Isn't it??

I mean, the fact that you are here probably browsing this website and downloading porn, when the govt. has plans to install internet filters to block availability to websites like these? You don't want to fight for that either?? Do you see what I'm getting at???

The actor Frank Thring and the porn director Frank Thring are completely different people. There is no connection between them at all.

Although porn is technically illegal to buy outside of the ACT and NT, you can buy it in Sydney and Melbourne at any sex shop. This has been the case for years. I remember going into one and being surprised by the fact that you could buy them off the shelf, since it is technically illegal.

With the internet now, the ban on porn sales is even more absurd.

As far as I know, this is still the case.
You'd think the 'net makes such ridiculous rules redundant?
Hardcore vids were and are readily available from most "Sex shops" in Sydney. They are tolerated by the cops, they are raided and all the material taken from time to time, but I wonder if bribery helps keep the shops operating. In NSW I would not be surprised....

Default My Fellow Austriches

The Federal Government is pushing forward with a plan to force Internet Service Providers to censor the Internet for all Australians. This plan will waste millions of dollars and won’t make anyone safer.
It certainly won't assist with broadband speeds either!

If you haven't already. When I signed the petition, there were still less than 10,000 signatures @ the Australian Sex Party. http://www.efa.org.au/

Beware, UK VEFers, these cretinous ideas (the censorship, not the petition) have a habit of ringing bells in the Home Office in Whitehall, and hey presto we have even more restrictions on our liberty to watch porn.

I've often wondered why there was so little Aussie porn , now i know why. The situation there seems similar to that in the UK before 1999 or whenever it was the law changed.

A few names that haven't been mentioned . i believe photographer turned video maker Fritz Ryan is Australian , though he's now moved to the Ukraine to produce his stuff. His cumshots make Peter North's look insignificant , but he does come across as a bit of a prat , as is generally the case with one man band porn makers.

Two actresses also spring to mind , Blond Jodie Moore and gorgeous redhead Vivianne , who sadly only appeared in scenes with her diminutive husband . i forget his name , but he appeared in one of the Louis Theroux programmes on the US porn industry. Also there's blond Sarah Jordan and currently very active in the US is Kiki Vidis.

I watched with interest a programme yesterday on free to air that focused on the Aussie accent and the cultural cringe that followed.
For a long time the mainstream film industry was virtually inactive.
When 'Breaker Morant' was released in 1980 the American distributors wanted to 'voice over' the Australian actors in a less broad American accent , much as they did later on with 'Mad Max'.
Director Bruce Beresford refused.

The programmes producers also related this story below.
"Consider the following real life experience of British novelist Monica Dickens, as reported in the Sydney Morning Herald on 30 November 1964. Monica was signing copies of her latest book at a bookstore in Sydney, when a lady handed her a book, saying "Emma Chisit?" The author dutifully wrote, 'To Emma Chisit' inside the front cover of the book and passed it back.

No!... Emma Chisit .. How-much-is-it? "

Personally I find the Aussie accent kinda sexy, when it comes from a nubile young woman, not to mention often funny.

You know you're not going to get a lot of tease and a lot more 'please' from many of these.

Shame directors don't see this generally.
There is something oddly confronting yet stimulating, when a sexy girl asks "Wanna root"?
