There is a statue of a mermaid in front of Venice High School in Los Angeles California (Myrna Loy's alma mater) for which she was the model.

her quite sexy as Cary Grant's wife in "Mr. Blandings Builds His Dreamhouse"!!! (1948)

An urban legend that went around for many years was that Myrna Loy and William Powell were married in RL, or at least romantically involved. They weren't, they were just (really!) real good friends who worked beautifully together. They appeared in several other movies together apart from the "Thin Man" series; TCM put out a DVD box set of three of those films a while back.

Look for her autobiography "Being and Becoming". It's excellent.

Here's a 5 minute best of clip from the 1933 film The Barbarian . Probably most famous for the scene of her in the large tub with petals on the surface, and what appears to be Myrna nude underneath. Was pretty disappointed the first time I saw that part of the film since it seems like you can't see a thing. I think I have read she had some sort of body stocking on, which makes sense, yet when she gets out of the water, and when they put the dress on her, she's clearly not wearing anything. Would love to see this come out on dvd...perhaps that would answer some questions.

Around the 18 second mark, you can see her butt crack! (slightly) Nice legs and stockings....but notice she is pretty flat on top??? She hid that well later on in her career. Oh, and check cap 7, is that her nipple???
