A females 'magic number'.. when is it too much.

A recent survey puts New Zealand women at the top of the list worldwide for the most sexual partners.. 20.8 on average, the country which incidentally also records some of the highest STD's in the developed world.

In a similar survey males were asked how many was 'too many' and at what point would you start to feel put off. The men interviewed replied that on average 6 previous partners was what they considered 'an acceptible figure' before they started to have second thoughts about thier relationship.

I tend to go with the masses, 6 partners is to me, the threshold where i too would start to feel uncomfortable about a womans past....

How do you feel on the subject? does it bother you? what is the forum's acceptible figure?

has a past female lied to you or does your current female's list of old boyfriends add up to more than she's letting on.......

I would have said up to 10 but there are no allowances for that so I guess I'm forced to go up to 6....which if a lot of people are like me you are going to get a false representation.
I have never asked past girlfriends how many previous partners they've had. I think the less detail you know the better.
Anyway I'm just as concerned as to what age they lost their virginity.

20+ partners for an 18 yo is a lot, but 20+ partners for a 60 yo isn't...

Even though I'm a full blooded make, it seems kind of hypocritical to me. I'm going to use the old "Males are studs if they bed a lot of women, but women are sluts if they bedded a lot of men." argument.

Everyone has a past and maybe we even sowed some oats along the way. It doesn't really concern me unless there are children, psycho ex's or diseases involved. And most importantly, it means the most to me that they are faithful to me once they are with me and we are experiencing an exclusive relationship.

While it would certainly be concerning if a partner told me they had 20 - 30+ partners in their past, I'd have to look at my own past and say we've both lived full lives. Sometimes that experience pays off when it's your turn.

Now if she tells you this and then when you're both in public she's flirting with every male in sight right in front of you, I'd have to say you need to really question who you're with and open your eyes.

Otherwise, I'm all for "ladies in public, but sluts in bed".

Lets say you have a key that opens multiple locks.We'd call it a "master key", and it's an awesome thing to have.
Now lets say we have a lock that can be opened by lots of different keys.Well that's a pretty crummy lock, and one most people wouldn't want.

Women would only have to "lie" about previous partners if the male ego can't accept reality.
Unfortunately a lot of men do feel inadequate and unsure about themselves if their partner seems to have a lot of 'history'.

Logically I think this is absurd. And the keys and locks analogy is the perfect example of men with low self esteem. It is through this lack of maturity in men that women have had to live a double standard, in discussion and in bed.

Hardly the basis of a sound and trusting relationship when the fragility of the male ego has to be pandered to by a normal and healthy woman.

I've had quite a few myself, so I'd be more than hypocritical if I said I'd be bothered by the number of previous partners my partner has had. I personally wouldn't want to know, however... in fact, my last partner actually lied to me and said she'd been with 7 men before, but later admitted that it was actually only 3. The reason? She felt intimidated by the number I've had (and it's not all that many, btw) and wanted me to think she was more experienced with men...
