This is such an impossible question to answer.
I can say what I think is the best performance of a song I ever heard. ![]() On July 13 1985 I was camping with friends at Stainforth, near Settle in the Pennine hills of Yorkshire. We had walked all day in the bright sun and came home in the evening. The campsite had an ancient portable television in a ramshackle outbuilding laughingly called the ''Television Room''. We knew Bowie was going to be on near the end of the concert so we made sure to be back in time for that. This song is a Bowie classic. That day, supported by Thomas Dolby of Prefab Sprout on keyboards and by a scratch assembly of other magnificent musicians, David Bowie gave the best rendering of Heroes he's ever done. Remember the tragic context of this concert: he was calling the world to arms against natural catastrophe. My hair stood on end when I listened to this performance.

couldnīt agree with you more, fantastic song, exceptional lyrics and beautifully sang; Dreams by The Allman Brothers Band is also great, but I will always have a soft spot in my heart for Father and Son - Cat Stevens |

Really difficult to select only one.
Maybe ... Queen's "Bohemian Rapsody" |

White Man in Hammersmith Palais by The Clash is for me, the greatest piece of work written. I have it instructed that it be played at my funeral.

Too many to choose from.
Usually a track from the album i'm listening to. This week it's To Binge from Plastic Beach by the Gorillaz. Also like Pounding by Doves. |
