The Wild Bunch is pretty violent, but fine in context, being a western gives it a fantasy element. One of the best westerns ever made.

The only film - and I've watched most of the once-banned video shockers - where the violence really got to me was the baseball bat scene in Casino. The violence in Goodfellas stays just on the right side of the line, but that scene in Casino makes it unwatchable for me.

Generally speaking, violence in horror films doesn't effect me (not at all, in fact) as much as violence in 'real' settings. The fantasy element erects a barrier that allows you to disassociate yourself, however much blood there might be.

This movie is a tour de force of "Ultra-violence" featuring Vincent Cassel as the title character a charasmatic bank robber,Monica Bellucci as his beautiful deaf mute girlfriend Nat and Thecky Karyo as the berserk ,sociapathic cop Christini. The movie has manymemorable moments none more so than the scene where Christini threatens a baby with a hand grenade. The is in french and therefore has sub-titles but don't let this put you off.

Thumbs up Hellraiser

Hellraiser is one of the best and most bizarre Horror movies I saw so far. And it has some rather ugly scenes...

Robocop director's cut
Ichi the killer (more on the sick side).
Men behind the sun (in context it's a kick in the balls)

John Woo (nobody dies in his movies from one single bullet):
Bullet In The Head
The Killer
Hardboiled
A Better Tommorow trilogy

Flesh and Blood from Paul Verhoeven (Middleages at it's ugliest)

Various Japanese pseudo snuff films. A former friend wanted to see them. Not me. After it, I knew why I didn't wanted to see them. Just plain sick.
