Awful idea, of course. Will probably be utter crap.

But still, I hope they get Paul Giamatti to play "Woodcock!"

The only real surprise is that they took so long to think of it.

You're expecting modesty and rationality from this guy? The one who believes in aliens have been mind-controlling humans for a billion or two years?

I saw a trailer for a remake of Whatever Happened To Baby Jane? called Whatever Happened To Baby Ed? (lol, it's a put on). It's on youtube still.

Hollywood has pretty much gotten to be so inbred and isolated that it has no idea of the surrounding world other than itself and Las Vegas. That's pretty much the kiss of death for originality.

Good God Hollywood! Another damn remake! What do you want to bet that they try to do as they say in Hollywood "a gritty reboot?" Then they will cry about how no one went to see it. Even a lot of the so-called original films have so much of their plot shamelessly ripped off of older great movies. Guess this is what happens when you spend 2/3 of the budget on the salaries of "the talent." Not much room after that to pay the writers.
Hollywood has gotten to big and flooded with ego to make great movies anymore. From the directors down it is nothing but a big circle jerk.

Default Dreadful beyond belief!

They just can't help themselves - Hollywood that is, they have to meddle with classics, why on earth would anyone want to make a remake of one of the greatest westerns ever made and why would anyone want to star in it.
Cruise and Travolta are totally unsuited for the title roles, neither of them has charisma, charm and an all commanding screen presence, I sincerely hope Robert Redford puts curse on the pair of them for such blasphemy.

What next The Magnificent Seven or The Searchers and I dread to think of anyone ever trying to emulate Eastwood as the Man with No Name.

Hollywood, be told, leave well alone.

Because the original film ended with a freeze frame they probably think this gives them licence to give the movie a happy ending where they triumph over the army and live happily ever after. Perhaps Cruize will finally admit his sexuality and incorparate a bit of Brokeback Mountain action between BC & TSDK.

Thumbs down

I think those two should work on a remake of Dumb and Dumber.

I Sincerely hope not, Newman and Redford were/are ladies men, to think of the timeless characters they played being of a different sexuality is totally absurd , but for Cruise and Travolta to change the ending I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest - the reason this movie will fail is because Newman and Redford were personal friends and bounced off each other brilliantly (they did it again in The Sting) sadly Tom and John, even though they are friends will bounce off each other like lead balloons.
