It seems to me that both parties suffer from internal divisions that make getting anything done very difficult. Let us also not forget that Chuck Schumer negotiated a deal to resolve the "Dreamer" issue and provide funds for Trump's wall. But Trump welshed on it and said he would veto it.

Notice the North Korea deal has fallen apart already.

Even assuming one can get a consensus in the herd of cats called the Democratic party, how the hell can you make a deal with a man who doesn't keep his word?

This is why Pelosi, Feinstein, Joe Biden and company need to ride off into the sunset (or shoot themselves in the head.)

Face it, younger people may need to take a page out of the 1850's handbook and form a new party, align with the Greens, or do something to upset the applecart.

I don’t see any particularly deep divisions on policy among Democrats.

I think the issue is more power and generational equity.

Despite being an old dude, Bernie spoke on generational equity issues very effectively. Student debt is a burden to the young, healthcare costs to the old. I think a of vintage folks missed just how deeply underwater a lot of young people are with student debt, and this is a downer both for them and for the economy as a whole.

So I think the division for the Dems is more old guard vs new blood, but without irreconcilable policy differences

Where policy has become fascinating is the Republican Party. Trump has gutted much of the historic platform. The alliance system, after all, was in large part the work of Eisenhower and John Foster Dulles - Trump is trashing that. The liberal international trading order was also a Republican project.

That the progressive Republican was dead and buried, that was already a given. But that the Main Street chamber of commerce Republican and the Wall Street Republican - that they were gone too, that’s a surprise.

It’s easy to conceive the Democrats future without Clinton, Obama, Pelosi or Sanders. But what is the Republican Party without Trump?

I would hope that the Republican party would revert to John Kasich and his ilk.

By the way, all you folks that hate Nancy Pelosi should see what's coming your way.

The Congresswoman from my district was Ron Dellums' chief of staff. Believe me with the People's Republic of Berkeley in this district this is about as lefty loony as you can imagine. Bernie Sanders is a little too conservative for most folks here.

Back in the day when I came of age, the Communist labor leaders of the 1930's were aging out as the World War II vets took charge. The legacy of such people as Harry Bridges and Herbert Aptheker is still felt. The Black Panther Party originated in Oakland.

P.S. Oakland is home to the nation's third largest concentration of lesbians. These are not the lesbians starving for cock you see in porn. These are the lesbians who will cheerfully remove your package without anesthesia.

Here is a fun video

Hahahahahahahaha - I think Trump is well on his way to surpassing golfing days of all the prior presidents combined! Never before has a president had the views of golf courses blocked to prevent photos of his "meetings."
Conservative estimate is that Obama played a game every 8.8 days, Trump 4.7 days.
