You correct in general Scoundrel. I have tried to read up on this and it is quite complex. But at the same time the charges being mentioned in connection with Cohen is bank fraud and wire fraud. If the funds paid to Stormy Daniels were first obtained by fraud on the bank, then there's your crime. Using campaign contributions for non campaign related activities is also illegal. It is possible that Trump's campaign paid the Stormy Daniels money via the front company and the "loan" to the newly formed front corporation was designed to cover that up.

Michael Cohen, Trump's personal attorney, seems to have less than sterling credentials. His law school was rated the worse in the country in 2017.

The fact that he is associated with such a frivolous lawsuit seems to indicate that Mueller is going to find a lot of stuff in all the various places of Cohen's that he has had searched.

I am shocked that Trump hasn't fired Mueller yet. He isn't known for self-control.

And ... Paul Ryan has just confirmed what's been an open secret for a few months: he's quitting in November.

With all these Republicans quitting this year (a record number at that), I can't help but think of rats and sinking ships.

They know the party will be decimated by 2020 - far worse than it was between 2008 and 2010. This time around it might take longer than a mere two years to regain lost ground. Trump is the best motivator Democrats and liberal-leaning/plain sensible independents have had to get out and vote for a long while. In fact that will be his sole positive legacy.

There is lots of speculation on the basis of the FBI warrant to raid Cohen's office. All we know is it is not part of the Russia probe, but Mueller found something else to justify the U.S. Attorney in New York getting a judge to sign off on a warrant. It is not easy to get a warrant for a lawyer's office. So, something must really stink. The Huffington Post talks about taxi medallions and taxes, but that seems like a state or IRS matter, unless we are talking organized crime across state lines. We wait with bated breath.

I did fail to mention the hypocrisy over the outrage regarding Indian raids on white settlements. These raids are a feature of all human cultures at the hunter gatherer and early agricultural stages of development. They cease when a society reaches civilization. Head hunting was commonly practiced in much of the world, but North American tribes were content with taking scalps as trophies.

Civilized societies reduced the frequency of raids, but wartime behavior is really not less savage to this day, except taking gruesome trophies home is no longer acceptable. The "advanced" and civilized white civilization responded to or anticipated Indian raids by attacking and burning Indian villages and farms and slaughtering every man, woman, and child they could get their hands on. An outside observer would be hard pressed to tell the difference in the behavior between the two groups.

Even if some one hates a public figure there are limits to what description(s) I at least will allow to continue to be posted.
