Videos are suddenly "choppy"
I have a question. I have a number of videos I've downloaded from this site and they were working great, but for some reason, all of a sudden they have started playing in kind of a choppy way. In other words, they will play for a few seconds, and then pause, and then start playing again. They do this over and over throughout the video.
Does anyone have any idea what I can do to fix this, or are my videos all toast? I'm hoping I can fix it, because I love these old vids. There's nothing like the classic stuff! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! |

Check your task manager. Maybe there is some program keeping the cpu so busy it can't process the video anymore.

1. These same, identical videos worked on the same, identical computer as before? You haven't changed machines? 2. What are you using to play these videos? I've been using the KLite Codec Pack for years and it will play almost everything. But, in the event it won't, then I use the VLC player. If one of those won't play something then you may have a computer problem or maybe software problem. I had this problem years ago on an old Dell Inspiron. Things were just fine and then, all of a sudden, videos I downloaded wouldn't work. After a lot of research I finally found I needed a new dual core processor. The single core just wasn't up to the job. Once I got a new machine everything worked just fine. Again, not my area of expertise. Just something I had to deal with years ago and the solution I needed that worked. Last edited by 9876543210; August 15th, 2014 at 06:53 PM.. |

I will try everything you guys advised. From the start, I installed the Klite codec pack and have been using Windows Media Player. The videos always worked great on this computer and suddenly the problem started up. Unfortunately, it started a while ago, and I don't remember what I could have installed that might be causing the problem.
I'm a member at other pay sites too, and what I've gotten from those sites is still all working just fine. It's just the ones from here for some reason. Anyway, thanks a lot for the suggestions! When I figure it all out I will post in here for other people too. Last edited by Crazy4theBrat; August 11th, 2014 at 01:25 AM.. |

VLC media player will play most file types without the need for additional codecs. It's free, it's safe and it's recommended. I suggest you try it out.

Well, sure enough, it turned out to be Windows Media Player. I tried the videos on another player that came with my computer and they play just fine on that one.
I'm going to take the advice of Burpman and Milliem and download VLC Media Player for future use. Thanks again to all of your for your advice. You guys are awesome!!! |

There are reviews on many of the players suggested here
Theres a good section at the bottom - Tips and Warnings It suggests which codec packs to use and links to why you should avoid the rest http://www.techsupportalert.com/best...eplacement.htm The very last tip leads to this one stop video software site & forum http://www.videohelp.com/tools/ In my experience they all have short comings it largely depends what codecs the players come packed with I've used pot player , media player classic & vlc and all 3 have had issues with the odd file One will play it while another wont |
