I don't have Avast or anything else than Symantec Corporate and I have never had a problem ANYWHERE. I surf to a lot of sites, blogs etal and all I get is an occasional warning that Symantec is dealing with something.

It seems like Avast is a problem itself.

Could be:

virustotal check for VEF: http://anonym.to/https://www.virustotal.com/en-gb/url...is/1407053417/

virustotal check for falcame.com: http://anonym.to/https://www.virusto...is/1407053086/

(Both clear, to save you looking)

For what it is worth: I have not had any Avast alerts while visiting VEF since my post on this thread 07-29-2014 03:27 AM.

Possibly these on and of alerts are generated by loading external content like advertisements and have nothing to do with VEF forum software itself. Not always easy to pinpoint what is happening and why.

In case it helps: I've started to get Avast alerts today (the HTML:Script-inf warning). I login and logout every day (up to and including yesterday it was fine). I use FF, NoScript (all VEF dependencies white-listed except google-analytics) and AdBlock Plus.

With Chrome (just Adblock Plus there) Avast won't even let me see the home page.

Cheers.

Block plug-ins, pop-ups and disable javascript. If at all possible don't run Java. If you inspect the index page source code, the offending site is shown there as described by the OP.

I've found Avast to be the best of the free anti-virus programs and I don't think you get any more by paying for overpriced AV software.

Today, my Avast picked up a warning when I opened VEF. I now begin to wonder if this might be connected to the very irritating Jasmin pop-ups?

Has anyone on VEF ever actually clicked on to one of these?

I use Avast & I've noticed that I only get alerts when I log in from the home page. I have a few threads bookmarked, so if I log in from those threads (instead of the home page), then I never get an alert from Avast. It's not a fix, but a possible band-aid.

That's right - I have my User CP bookmarked and always use that as the entry point.

Unlike in the original thread on this subject, we haven't had any responses from admins in this one - should we conclude from this that it isn't considered a serious problem?
