The second funniest (as long as you find hypocrisy funny) thing about pornography in the United States is that the states that are most likely to go along with this also have the highest incidence of online pornography use.

A few years back, someone did a study that broke down internet traffic from a couple of dozen highly trafficked sites, and by far, the state with the highest per capita data transfers was Utah (home of the LDS or "Mormon" "religion"). South Carolina, Alabama, and Arkansas were also at the top.

I used to think that there's no way a law like this could pass muster with the Supreme Court, but then again, I never imagined corporations would prevail in the Citizens United decision. Anything's possible with this activist court.

Considering that a huge amount of internet traffic is used for viewing/searching for porn, I'd consider that any attempt to stop this would be political suicide.

Former Australian Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd was ousted not long after proposing internet filters. By a redheaded woman.

It may not be the overall reason he was deposed, but it didn't win him any fans.

I believe Tipper had a most excellent notion. Warnings of Brain Fester, Hardening of the Eardrums, Musical Bulimia should be posted on all products from Boy bands, Girl Bands, The Voice, Britains Got Talent and the X Factor.

Default Romney’s promise to put porn filters on every computer

Yeah, he's promised to create 12.000.000 jobs too, which is about 12.000.000 more than GWB created

But guess what - his "plan" is exactly the same as GWB's and even McCain's. It's true, both had exactly the same "five point plan" as Romney today

Or maybe we should say "yesterday", because we know he could flipflop any time

Being english I have no real idea of the niceties of the american system. Why not just cut out the middle man and vote as president Rupert Murdoch? You are fighting two wars that were mostly his decision, and three if he only makes his mind up about Syria.

In fact who cares which one of those soulless cnuts win`s , as either way the entire mostly wonderful American nation and a vast section of the globe is going to get royally fcuked

Because that`s what the sociopathic financial backers of the winner want to happen

It is amusing when obliviots get their knockers in a twist over something that absolutely will not stop THEM from having freedom by jumping all over the proposal as limiting freedom.

He wanted to enable parents (many of whom are far less computer savvy than their kids) to block porn on THEIR computers.

Exactly what is wrong with parents protecting their children, and do any of you really believe that kids wanting to find porn won't find a way?

This proposal is not all that different than what Democrats would come up with anyway.
Except they also want to control what you eat and drink.

Absolutely. 2 sides of the same Dictatorial coin if you ask me, but it's a Republican Mayor in NYC who's going after what people eat & drink. It's not just the liberal haven of San Fransico taking away people's rights.

Anyway, if Romney could get away with putting porn filters on all new computers sold in the US he would. Mormons aren't even allowed to drink coffee for Christ's sake, so why wouldn't he take a hard line view on porn? The Mormons are giving him all that money to run for President, so you know they're going to want something back for it in the end.

The answer of course would be to build your own computer, or order a European one from ebay. Ahhh Europe...the last safe haven of personal liberty!! The Pilgrims who landed at Plymouth Rock must be rolling over in their graves. If only they could have waited a couple of Centuries...
