Lightbulb Intended as a foreign-only release? Region Codes?

Ever since I was a little kid, I've heard this about big name stars - They made two (or even more) versions of the same scene. The US gets one version and a more explicit version is released "overseas."

But now I really believe this is an old wife's tale!

Yes, I know there is one famous example of Adrian Barbeau and the DVD of Swamp Thing.. <here> with an incorrect region code and a recall... but.. I think it was really a marketing deal...

I've heard about nude scenes that were released only in Europe, with Raquel Welch from "Mother, Jugs & Speed," the same for Maureen O'Hara in "The Quiet Man," a more explicit version of Kathleen Turner's famous scene in "Body Heat... and a nude scene with Elizabeth Montgomery from "The Legend of Lizzie Borden" --- but alas none of these scenes have surfaced on the internet..

Below is a quote about Maureen McCormick and a possible nude scene for "foreign-only release"...

Another possibility is that is was initially intended as a foreign-only release and only received a TV showing in the US. Before direct-to-video and cable channels making their own movies, that kind of thing was more common than you might think.
Have you heard the same thing?

Is it really true??

Can you prove it with real examples??

I can't speak for the others, but as for Elizabeth Montgomery in Lizzie Borden. There is a PAL VHS rip from overseas that has some nip slips and quick bush shots. I've heard there are more scenes out there that show even more, but I have yet to find them. I can't say for sure from the original airing as I wasn't alive then, but many, many years ago A&E aired the movie and all of these PAL scenes were removed from the airing. Either they thought it was too brutal for a tv movie or the nip slips were too obvious.

There was also this little piece in Celebrity Sleuth.

Yes - This is a good example of overseas seeing more... but I wonder if it was more because of the PAL format? Much like the Halle Berry scene from Monster's Ball and VHS vs DVD....

Here is the HD version of Adrienne in "Swamp Thing" - posted by stralis440
