thanks for the work, beutelwolf. "reputation" is nearly the same as received thanks, it's just a different quality: 1 received thanks = 5 reputation points (so the chosen limit in terms of rep is 750).

as i said some time before, there is the possibility to upgrade single members by hand.

if a member only is active with identifiying IDs i know very well how unthankful this effort is (in comparison to a compilation of crappy pics posted to the milf & mature ladies thread). reason is not a smaller appreciation - it's just the circumstance of having less visitors in this section than to those sections where the mass of content is stored.

i'd say as soon as someone earns his first star, he should gain the permission to ask for ids. this is something i have to do "by hand", so please PM me if necessary.

but the general limit of 150 thanks has to stay for the automatic upgrade. i have to draw the line somewhere and it's always the situation that you will find people who are already close to a chosen line, people you could also include because they don't add up many more to the collective. the line is not chosen to exclude "a number", the line is chosen to exclude "a performance".

Mmm. Difficult one this. I, too, think the 150 limit is rather high, perhaps it might be sensible to monitor things and see how well this limit works. It may deter people to the extent that the ID forum has very little new posts, which will be a crying shame.

On the other hand it will completely remove those who insist on ending their first posts with 'thanks in advance'. And that's something we can all be grateful for!

let's give the actual setting some time and we see how it runs. if the amount of new requests is too low, i can adjust the settings again. but for now, let's have it this way for the next 2 weeks.

One real benefit of not having to slog through 2 or 3 pages of ID requests is now I'll have time to scan and post my magazines like I used to. Less time some of us spend in this section is more time we can spend in the others and everyone benefits from having more actual content posted.

I must admit that my principal reason to become a member of this forum was to submit requests of ID. I submitted 27 requests and after the submission of 28-30 requests I had the bad surprise of this new rule. I was one of those who thanked and who also contributed, but accepted the new rule and devoted myself to contribute as far as it was possible. But, maybe I'm wrong, the condition I readed at that time was to reach 100 posts and become a senior member. Today I reach the target, tried to post my requests and had this new bad surprise: the condition is not the one that (right or wrong) I remembered, but 150 thanks. I have reached 112 in about 6 weeks, as you can see, so maybe I'm not so far from the goal; but if beutewolf is right, for many people the final target is very difficult to be reached.
I add to the remarks of dumbassgo and beutewolf these my considerations, the first one technical, the other one theorical: 1) while the condition of 100 (or reasonably more) posts is something that depends on the goodwill of the single member, the target of 150 thanks is uncertain; 2) I reckon that also the simple act to send an ID request is a way to contribute, because offers to the other members some pictures and because the eventual ID is useful for all the community.
So, I propose to calibrate the allowing mechanism in a softer way

the automatism to block/unblock members from starting threads here doesn't run in "realtime", it's a cronjob (and because of this, it can happen that some new members slip through this "block"). i'm not sure about the time interval, but you should be able to start requests in several hours, if you're not able to do it allready. hope you have this patience

I dont even have 150 friends in FB.
trying to get those 150 thanks i will spend what? a year 2 maybe 3. to much for me.
