Even though the AIDS epidemic had been raging for more than ten years at the time this television film was made, I can't remember seeing a better one on the topic. It has an enormous cast, too. Even Phil Collins is in it.

My post goes back six years. I should rewatch it one day.

A pregnant woman and her boyfriend go to an illegal abortion centre run from inside a brothel, the aborted foetus is flushed down the drain and reacts with chemicals and becomes a killer, pretty gross and disturbingly funny

Their Finest. A great British comedy/drama starring Gemma Arterton and the always wonderful Bill Nighy and set in England in 1940. It's about the making of 'The Nancy Starling' a propaganda film that's complete BS, but has the cinema audiences weeping in the aisles.
Heartwarming, funny and bittersweet.

I will watch it this weekend and report back.

Don't spoil it for me but the cast listing on IMDB for Kirk Douglas fascinates me:

Quote:
Kirk Douglas ... George Brougham / Vicar Atlee / Mr. Pythian / Arthur Henderson

Runaway Train (1985)

Imdb
YouTube Trailer

Two prisoners, Manny and Buck , escape from a desolate Alaskan maximum-security facility. They hop aboard a speeding train, making a clean escape. But the engineer has suffered a heart attack, and the train goes out of control. Once Manny catches on to what's happening, he tries to jump off the train, only to be talked out of such a foolhardy act by railroad employee Sara To prevent a disastrous head-on collision, the railroad heads decide to derail the runaway train, killing its occupants to save the lives of hundreds of others.

This movie blew me away the first time I saw it back in 1986 and still manages to after more than fifty viewings through the years. It's an underrated masterpiece, a one of a kind action movie with heart, guts, tears and most of all...soul. Jon Voight, Eric Roberts & Rebecca DeMornay deliver incredible performances, so does John P Ryan as the villainous warden Ranken. But the main bad guy in the movie might be the train itself, a terrifying death machine that cannot be stopped. Director Andrei Konchalovsky handles his work with a marvelous sense of shooting. The tension appears on screen from the first to the last minute. Runaway Train is a must-see.

That's a great movie and no cop out ending,With a Russian director at the helm,You could easily imagine the story taking place in Siberia instead.

Default Sicario: Day Of The Soldado (2018)

Sicario: Day Of The Soldado (2018)
**Possible spoiler alert warning**

The "War on terror" background involving Mexican cartels, a kidnapping, people smugglers and - for me - a rather confusing subplot with Jihadi extremists that doesnt go anywhere than straight to the DVD bargain bin.
Its like, lets add this and this and hey! we have Sicario 2!

If you have seen Sicario 1, there was always a sense of mystery but understanding/knowing of the mindset Benicio and co were dealing with in this environment and their purpose.

The Sicario 2 premise, imo is a little overly convoluted than it needed to be with a dose of empathy that really shouldn't be there and somewhat betrays the ruthlessness of the kind of people these guys are. Not to say they ought to be out of control murdering bastards just because! but I was expecting more of the mystery and figuring out from Sicario 1.

Let down viewing
5.5/10

Frozen Sasquatch (2018)
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8736994/

After contact is lost with a research station in the Himalayas a small team of 3 are sent in to investigate what they believe was a Yeti attack.

Set in some snowless forest with CGI snow effects to make it look as if it is almost constantly snowing, but none of it sticks anywhere

The team spend time in t-shirts as ALL Himalayan explorers do and use bog standard tents.

The creature is suitably tatty and moth eaten which really helps
