Netflix's original sci-fi horror feature “Tau” starring Gary Oldman as the voice of an AI-driven smart house that terrorizes its inhabitants in a horrifying game of cat and mouse.

“It Follows” star Maika Monroe plays a young woman living in a futuristic city who gets kidnapped and injected by a mysterious stranger and psychotic inventor (Ed Skrein).

She wakes up strapped to a chair in a strange house run by the artificial intelligence Tau. The inventor gives her a choice: do as the house says, or die. She attempts to escape by befriending the A.I. program that controls the house.

“Tau” premieres on Netflix on June 29th.
Didn't I see this on the Simpsons or something?

Some interesting location pictures of the forthcoming BBC War of the Worlds TV mini-series with Eleanor Tomlinson (Poldark) in the lead role.

I think you are talking about "2061 and 3001," which is certainly of interest.

As an Arthur C. Clarke fan I've read both books and "Rendezvous With Rama," which have all been discussed as films and TV series. All three would require substantial budgets and be very reliant on special effects. Add someone like Tom Hanks or Morgan Freeman - as has already suggested and the cost of doing these sci-fi stories rockets. Unfortunately, there is a lot of interesting stuff in development that has gone nowhere so far. Potentially great films that come to mind are "28 Months Later," "Bug Jack Barron" and "The Forever War," which Ridley Scott bought the right to a few years ago. If made properly, this last one would be far better than Avatar, but Ridley Scott goes from good to ghastly and I really didn't enjoy his last two "Alien" movies and found a fair number of technical issues with "The Martian."

So Ridley Scott messing around with the later Arthur Clarke "2001" stuff is a little worrying and I'd just as soon see someone else do this.

I thought Scott lost the rights to The Forever War. Anyhoo, what I'd like to see is a big budget miniseries of all three Forever Books. I'd also like to see The Amber Series and Lord Of Light by Roger Zalazny.

Ridley getting old and sloppy.

We are supposed to endure 3 more of his Alien prequels before it comes full circle to connect with Alien 1979.

If that was true then why did I (a conservative leaning centrist trump supporter) love Rogue One & it's entire diverse cast?

MAYBE the issue is, that the diversity in Last Jedi was simply badly done and people voted with their wallets against Solo.
MAYBE this deranged shit...

Is agreed upon by the majority of viewers as being out of fucking place in Star Wars.
If Star Wars fans hated women, then why did Leia become the cultural icon she has? Why are fans pisssed that Mara Jade has been erased from canon?

It does have the look of quite a lot of previous material and for some reason, the Robert De Nero movie Heat was the first thing that came to mind when I looked at the trailer. It could be quite good, or simply more of the same old stuff, but I think I'm going to reserve judgement just for the moment as it might end up being worth a watch. Unfortunately, very little is new these days and that's the problem with big budget, dull scripted movies and why TV shows like Man in the High Castle and GoT have done so well.
