That most modern porn and models are not for me, and fetishes are what I find most unattractive of a girls body, still adore it all of my Goddess Sara Lynn.

DO NOT ever purchase the "Piece Of Mind" option from H&R Block. No matter what they fuck up, there is something in the fine print that'll get them out of paying you.

My day kind of just started, so I'll share what I learned the last few days. More Power Rangers stuff, currently at episode 37.

David Yost, Billy the Blue Ranger, is gay. Apparently he suffered from bullying over his sexuality and that led to him leaving Power Rangers Zeo, a producer, this I learned today, denies that and said he left over a pay dispute. Which is how the Red, Yellow, and Black Ranger left the Mighty Morphin series in the middle of Season 2. This is where my childhood Power Rangers memories kick in, because I was exposed to that new cast, the Black Ranger was an Asian male, the Yellow ranger was a black girl, and the Red Ranger was a different white guy. Meanwhile Kimberly was still there (she left in season 3), Tommy was the White Ranger, not Green (my first exposure to a Green Ranger was a black guy donning the suit. I think either Lost Galaxy or In Space), and Billy stayed through. That means Billy, David Yost, has been in all episodes of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. I can't remember now where I read this, but I think he's been in more episodes than any other cast member in any Power Rangers series, even Jason David Frank. And I heard one of the Power Rangers in the 2017 movie is gay? One's autistic, so, yeah I'm now set on the show that I'll watch all 3 movies this year. Yost, this I learned today, oldest of the original cast, born in '69, was 23 when he got the part, 24 when the show premiered. Most surprising is that he had an athletic background. The show made it a point to cast people who were had backgrounds in dancing, gymnastics, and/or martial arts. David Yost was a gymnast, this shocked me because his character had no example of showing off his real talents, but just yesterday I watched an episode that featured him doing cartwheels, gymnast jumps (to be fair they all were doing it, like Saban just discovered trampolines and how to shoot those jumps where you don't see what's on the ground during these moves). It was really good! That was the best fight scene they all did without using Sentai footage, without being in the suits. If you just watch the scene and not binge watch like I've been doing, you probably wouldn't think much of it. For me, I was amazed. Sadly this was after Tommy lost his Green Rangers powers, so he wasn't in this. Sucks too, they just deleted him from the show, which is odd. They start and stop on characters within an episode, but this is someone that lasted 15 or so episodes, and then he's just gone, no mentions of him at all. So I have to wait until he comes back for the White Ranger stuff.

Learning of the original cast's athletic backgrounds, Jason David Frank on paper sounds like a monster. Multiple disciplines, multiple degree blackbelts, went into MMA, jeez, I'd like to see how he'd do in an action movie. He just keeps riding the coattails of his Power Rangers legacy, I guess that's more appealing. Austin St. John, Jason the Red Ranger, Taekwondo practitioner, I read a "Where are they now?" and he works at some "emergency services" place in Washington DC. A medic I guess. He got chubby, but face wise he's the same, just got a beard. Walter Jones, a dancer, saw some TMZ bit with him, he said all the "brothas" auditioned for Zack the Black Ranger. His dancing paid off, it's like Zhang Ziyi in Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, she had no martial arts background, but her being a dancer paid off because she looked like a master of fighting in that movie. Zack, a master, he went toe to toe with Jason in a little scene, it was great. Thuy Trang, Trini the Yellow Ranger, practiced Kung Fu, Vietnamese but moved to Hong Kong. Sadly though, she passed away in 2001, car crash, the Power Rangers Wiki says she's the only actress in the Zordon Era (first 6 seasons) to have died. Considering the youth when cast, I'd say she's the only actress in the whole franchise who died, these people are young, none of them are 50 yet, David Yost is the closest. Even Jason Frank, he was 19 when he auditioned! He originally auditioned to be the Red Ranger, 19 man. Oh yeah, they showed him off a lot, they knew they had a winner, he spent almost half the time out of the suit, solo fights with Putties and such. Not a top-rate martial arts performer, but in terms of Power Rangers, he's a god amongst young adults really. All the more sad they just dropped him for a while.

I did pass another Bryan Cranston voice in the show, Twin Man, his character created evil clones of the Rangers out of Putties. It was hilarious because these were teens with attitude! The theme song has Zordon say "Recruit a team of teenagers with attitude!" No, they got the most righteous group, there was a fucking environmental protection episode, "The Clean-up Club," it's hilarious. Kind of sad a bit because they showed footage of some dead fish, it was in a video Trini put together for a school project. Anyways, Cranston was not credited. So, I read about his Power Rangers ties a while ago, either 2015 or even last year to promote the movie, but that may explain why his voice acting past was such a huge shock. He just wasn't credited all that time. He did voices for Saban at the time, he apparently also voiced Fei-Long in the Street Fighter animated movie. Supposedly that's where Billy's surname, Cranston comes from. 37 episodes in, I have not heard Billy's surname, I haven't heard any of their last names really. In the cast call, you just read their first names. I remember a blurb where David Yost denied that Billy was named after Bryan Cranston. I don't know. Maybe it's just because it was written, but never said. Like Dalton in Road House, I didn't know until recently his first name was James. It's seen briefly in a scene where he meets Doc, and his medical record is with him, you can apparently spot the name on those medical records. I couldn't. Maybe it's really Billy Cranston, cool.

For the life of me I couldn't find out why Amy Jo Johnson, Kimberly, left the show in season 3. I forgot to say, gymnast background, so, again, all of the original cast had athletic talents. Anyways, I'm assuming pay, I read a short editorial she gave to Variety or whoever paying tribute to Haim Saban, the man behind Saban, executive producer of Power Rangers. She mentioned she almost got killed during that time, didn't delve into how that happened, brought up the pay being lousy (Austin St. John apparently made a crack that he could've made more money working as a window guy at McDonalds than he did on Power Rangers, yikes), but loved being part of it, impact it had on children, girls especially, all that. She's said to be the most successful of the original cast. It seems like it, she became a singer, made 3 or so albums, made her own movie with funding through IndieGoGo, she's a producer, good for her!

I have looked at the latest Power Rangers series, Super Ninja Steel, mainly because of Chrysti Ane, the Pink Ranger. I'm happy to say, I'm older than her! By 6 months, but she'd kick my ass, I perv on Instagram and I don't know why I thought she'd be perv-worthy, because all her stuff is just showing off her badassery. MMA enthusiast, she loves guns, I saw a video today of her at a shooting range, she's no joke. Seriously, she said so herself, she loves guns, and she's a Power Ranger, go figure, right? That show, as the title suggests, they use swords and ninja stars. Saban has a Power Rangers channel on Youtube and there's a compilation of all these special moves in Ninja Steel, the previous season, where she was in as well, and, Jesus. It's like a combination of Final Smashes from Super Smash Bros, Z-moves from Pokemon, I guess any final move things from anime, it's crazy. I was going through sensory deprivation almost being slackjawed from it. 17 minutes, felt like 40.

I knew about this before, but I learned one new detail. Okay, there was a former Power Ranger who a few years ago, murdered his roommate with a sword! That blew my mind back then, still shocking now, Ricardo Medina Jr is the guy. I learned recently he was the Red Ranger in Power Rangers Wild Force, I just knew him as a former Ranger, so that's the new bit of trivia. I kind of want to watch that show!

For the better part the 2000-2009 decade, Disney had ownership of the series, they shipped everything to New Zealand to cut costs and it was like they were embarrassed to produce it. It was a package deal because they acquired Saban's whole library (included Digimon) when they purchased Fox Family (renamed ABC Family). They wanted to cancel the show at the end of Wild Force, and just do a syndication deal where they run the 10 seasons of the series up to that point. They were persuaded otherwise, New Zealand move, fired the whole voiceover cast and crew (some were with the franchise right from the start), only the stunt team relocated to New Zealand. I have a deep down hatred of Disney and this really fuels that now.

They wanted to restart the franchise and basically get away from the Saban shows before, but it was dropped. They wanted to cancel after Dino Thunder (Jason Frank returned to that series as Tommy, became the Black Ranger there, he recruited the team, so he basically was the Zordon of that show), but ratings. The show was still huge in Europe, so Jetix UK (pre-Disney XD) made Disney sign a contract to keep the show until around 2008. They wanted to go low budget, to the point of demanding stock footage. Christ man.

An executive even said fuck it all, let's just dub Super Sentai. Seriously? They wanted to cancel again after Jungle Fury but Jetix UK, despite the contract being up, along with Bandai, said "Nope." Bandai wanted to keep making toys for the series. After the RPM season, they finally cancelled it in 2009, in 2010 Saban reacquired the rights, and the series lives on.

I learned most of the Disney stuff today, so, yeah, fuck Disney. But more on them, recently they acquired 20th Century Fox, who produced the first two Power Rangers movies, fuck. It's funny though, they didn't like owning that property, spent years trying to get rid of it, buy up Fox's movie and TV company...gets some Power Rangers again. I mean come on, that just says how much of cockroach Power Rangers is, you can never ever get rid of it. A lovable one mind you. Pokemon, can never get rid of it, Dragon Ball, never, you get the idea. Speaking of Pokemon, another fuck you to Disney, they own the broadcasting rights to the show and movies. Boo, Cartoon Network dropped the ball there. I think Nickelodeon had Pokemon briefly, ugh, Cartoon Network is a mixed bag for me. Grew up watching it, so, there's a personal connection there. Anyways, Nick currently has rights to Power Rangers, a solid deal where each season is 22 episodes, 2 of those are holiday specials. I did pass through the Halloween special of Mighty Morphin, the Frankenstein monster was there, hilarious. They kept calling him Frankenstein, dumb kids.

I really love learning about Power Rangers, it's such a surprise that this interest came out of nowhere. Ask me 2 weeks ago if I would even watch an episode, I would've said "Hmmm, maybe, I don't know, I have other things to watch." Lo and behold. Good timing for the 25th anniversary, I even went and followed two verified Power Rangers accounts on Twitter. One of them promoted a brand new upcoming comic book series, a trailer was shown with Jason David Frank voicing over it, an alternative version of his Green Ranger story. Or a retcon, I don't know. Basically, Tommy came from another universe, timeline, whatever, where he was the shit, he ruled over people, nobody opposed him, so being sent to a new reality, he seeks to reclaim his former status. There's a cover of one of the books where he holds the helmet...or head of the Red Ranger, who would be Jason. I'm not into comic books, but that sounds very interesting. Saban-approved too, so it could be a darker tale, seeing as how the 2017 movie is seemingly a shift in tone, it's no surprise they want to push the boundaries. I mean, yeah, biting into what DC has been doing, going darker, all stemming from the fantastic Nolan Batman trilogy, but I'd give this a shot.

Back to Thuy Trang's death, that means there will never be a full reunion of the original cast. Everyone else is still alive. The body for Rita though, at least from 1993-1994 in the Super Sentai footage, Machiko Soga, passed away in 2006. The voice, again, Barbara Goodson, still kicking around, she's almost 70. Carla Perez replaced the Rita body, Soga was still playing the character in Japan, the name there is Bandora, not Rita. So with that, they didn't need stock footage of Sentai Rita anymore. Makes sense considering Rita is in the Mighty Morphin movie, she shares the screen with Lord Zed, a Saban-original creation, as in not from Sentai at all. Zed debuts in season 2 and is the main bad guy for a while until Rita returns and they...marry, I'm not there yet of course. Yeah this Power Rangers Wiki is now my new favorite website, so much to learn.

Rambling again, I'll stop and finish with one non-Power Rangers thing. I go to therapy, there's a doctor there who basically talks with clients to see whether they need prescriptions, she isn't a therapist. I'm aware of that now because every time I relayed things I've been going through since we last spoke (almost a year ago), she kept saying "Mmhm." She's really of no help, my therapist suggested I see her anyways, and it's strange because he was a physician himself. In that respect, couldn't he be able to prescribe me if necessary? I take no prescription drugs by the way, after basically pouring a lot of details to her, she just ended with "No prescription." She did pause to respond to one specific private matter, only saying it will be alright. Ugh. So what I learned, tell her anything, I really mean anything, hell, everything, she'll just respond with "Mhm."

Okay, back to Power Rangers briefly, there was an episode where Zack's students, who you never see again after this episode save for some white boy, are left alone...in a park. Zack needed to get some cassette for his ghetto blaster, he teaches...Hip-Hop-Kido, yeah. So he goes to get it, the kids are alone in the middle of the day, they are put to sleep by some butterflies, Rita's doing. Them lazily collapsing to sleep was so hilarious! I was dying because I thought too much of it, adding context that makes it appear morbid. Think about it, these kids were not given any names. So, namely kids, being put to sleep, in the middle of the day, in a park, unsuspervised. To make it worse, when Zack comes back, gets a call from Zordon, he assures Zack that he will "look after the kids." For fuck's sake! I'm sorry, that just made me cry with laughter. It kind of stems from a movie, spoiler alert.

Sleepaway Camp is the movie, towards the end, kids are discovered in their sleeping bags, dead. You can't get any good looks at the faces, it was really dark, you just see small bodies in hacked up sleeping backs, strewn all over a spot on the campgrounds. That's horrific, but funny too. Trivia on that, the kids got that as punishment because during production, they threw sand at cast members, judging by Q&As, Felissa Rose, who played Angela, the lead in the movie, was one of the people affected by it. The kids were basically being obnoxious pricks, so...they had to die. Oh man.

Anyways, that wasn't brief at all, I gave that story to introduce my final bit on this post. I've been making GIFs from the series, but the source is VHSrips from the show, I can't download from Netflix, where the quality is slightly less potato grade. Not that it matters, you can see this amazing acting clearly. One of Zack's students, who again, appears here, never seen again, has a Juniors Karate tournament to compete in. Zack leaves because of a Ranger call, this was odd because the show's format is them doing their Saved By The Bell stuff, then trouble brews, they go into the suits, fight and win, close out the show out of the suits. Simple, effective, great. Here, they start out of the suits yes, but after Zack and the Rangers leave this kid to fight with no cheerleading or support, it goes full on second half of the show. Almost like it was reversed, start with the suits, that lasts a long time too by this show's standards, the last 5 minutes then is all this kid already in the finals, they never cut back to his progress in the tournament. Zack and company come back for the finals, they saved the day and all. Zack's student's opponent, a protege of Bulk and Skull's...his name was...Biff. I burst out laughing, they obviously watched Back to the Future, jeez, it would've been awesome if those two interracted apart from their match and he knocked on the black kid's head and was all "Hello, anybody there, think [insert name of black kid, I missed it, doesn't matter]." So funny, anyways, here's the black kid, just look at the acting here.

That can be my go-to reason when people ask why I watch the show. I'll also make it clear that I love "so bad it's good" stuff, see my avatar as it features the master of that art, Tommy Wiseau. Anyways, it's Morphin Time, which to me now means dinner and binge watching the show.

Joaquin Phoenix may end up playing the Joker in a standalone movie directed by Todd Phillips. Saying that out loud is odd. Phillips is generally a comedy movie director, and I don't know if he can pull an Adam McKay, who directed Step Brothers and then 7 years later, The Big Short which is not a funny movie at all, very dramatic. Or David Gordon Green, Pineapple Express, 5 years later, the last legitimately good Nic Cage movie, Joe. Phoenix himself, kind of too late, if this was right after Gladiator, sure, but errr, I don't know. He can transform to people, but, the gold standard is Heath Ledger, any live action movie Joker after that is doomed.

I made it to episode 51 of Power Rangers, Tommy returns, but as the Green Ranger, some crazy and stupid stuff bring him back. So then how does he go from Green to White? Have to wait and see. Anyways, no long blog about this, I'll be quick. One thing I kept noticing lately was that in the Sentai footage, the Yellow Ranger looks to have the shape of a man. Today when I spotted the American actors in the suits, it's clear there's a womanly shaped body very different from the male one. I looked it up, and the Yellow Ranger in Kyōryū Sentai Zyuranger (the season of Super Sentai that was used as stock footage for the first season of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers), is a man. A very young man too, he was born in 1976, Zyuranger was in 1992. Yeah. I did see some clips of that show, I may watch it, 50 episode season, really funny stuff, of course very familiar stuff because of the stock footage deal. Another body difference is the Tyrannosaurus Ranger (they don't address themselves by color in Super Sentai I learned) is slimmer than the bulky jock body of Austin St. John, the Red Ranger. So I've watched the show enough to really get key differences in body types, thus being able to spot which is Sentai footage, and which is them in the suits. It's easy anyways, but ah well.

Darker turn, I became fascinated more by David Yost, Billy the Blue Ranger, the gay egg in the basket. He wrote a column on Hollywood Reporter last year and it was really sad reading what he went through. It made me wonder if he had any fun during production of the show. If not, was it loyalty, only job he could get? He stayed on for 3 years, longest reining Power Ranger and whatnot. He said he didn't date all, always tried to keep his sexuality a secret. I mean the column has a light at the end of the tunnel, even after reading how he tried to go into "Conversion Therapy," as in attempting to turn straight through some ridiculous program, which sounds like a cult thing. He seems happy now, the show's aged enough to where kids who watched it are now adults and would go up to him at conventions and gush over how much he and the Rangers made their childhood. There's that, however it took a long time for him to reach that point, pretty sad.

Even worse today when I watched an episode where they tried to protect a time capsule (it was hilarious at first because while it was meant to be stored away for 100 years, I just kept thinking how we in 2018 would react to the stuff, someone made a comment on Kimberly's jacket saying "That's so grunge." HAHA). At the end of the episode, each one said a word signifying what they don't want to exist in the future. And...25 years later, that shit is still going on, it's worse. And Billy had the most poignant word, "prejudice." My smile went completely upside down. What was cheesy became extremely awkward and sad.

On the bright side, this show actually gets better, maybe them using Jason Frank had an impact, like Saban gave a directive. Do better fight scenes out of the suits. That's what they're doing, Billy is even fighting more, they had David Yost show off his gymnast background and it's good! Even more shocking, there's a fight scene where they are in the suits! It's not Sentai footage, so far that's the only instance of the actors in the suits, fighting. All the other times it's been posing or just standing wherever, like in Zordon's place. Zordon and Alpha are all Saban, not Sentai creations. Season 1 is 60 episodes, so I'm kind of dreading going into season 2, because then the countdown begins on the cast being changed. I may cry at season 3 when Kimberly leaves.

Oh and David Yost left Power Rangers Zeo in the middle of its run, so they filled him in using recycled footage and an uncredited voice actor. I was wrong about them starting and stopping on new characters. There is some black woman Zack tries to get with in a couple episodes, always failing. I watched the episode today where he finally has a date, but has to go help his Rangers in the middle of it. After saving the day, he rejoins his date in the movie theater, and gets popcorn dumped on them. After that, she's gone. Every other ancillary character (Bulk and Skull, Ernie, these don't count), start and stop in a single episode.
