Up until the First World War, it was of course unusual for a woman not to have hair that reached well down her back when unloosed; and in high Victorian times, these tresses could be wonderfully extravagant:

I just love seeing women with long hair.

Here is a series from a 1950s era magazine called "The Education of Stephanie." As was typical of the time, this is strictly softcore, but nevertheless quite provocative. High-contrast black-and-white, a somewhat silly story, but truly classic. See if you don't think so.

I had a few of these images without the story, and I thought the blonde was Miriam Fairfax, but after looking at this more studiously for a minute I now wonder of she isn't Helen (Helene?) Normand? Anyone have any thoughts on the matter? (1st=Miriam, 2nd= Helen supposedly)
