Default Mayfair magazine, 70s, 80s, cartoons

As well as the girls, what always appealed to me about Mayfair back in those days were its cartoons. I know that Carrie features a lot on this site (she even has her own at http://www.carriestrip.com/) but I think it time that we had some of the other cartoons like that of Paul White and Anthony.

Here are a few to begin with. Anyone with any more?

Mayfair Volume 24, number 1, January 1989

Mayfair Volume 24, number 4, April 1989

Mayfair Volume 24, number 6, June 1989

Let's see if I can put up a few pieces from my collection. Fairly new to the forum, so I might mess up.

And here are another batch. All I have, I'm afraid. They don't make cartoons like that anymore, do they?

Default Brian Forbes

One of the reasons I bought Mayfair back in the day was for the cartoons and particularly those of Brian Forbes. Some of his work has been posted on another thread here are the links:

If anybody has more please post.

These are great!

Just a minor request, can you post Volume/Number references and page numbers for the scans? Some of us are a bit retentive about keeping our mags neatly catalogued .

If you haven't already, check out both the 60s/70s and the 80s Mayfair threads in Classic And Vintage Magazines, the issues I've posted have the cartoons and other artwork in too. (At least where they're in colour, they tend not to scan so well from the B&W pages or the brown.)

It is possible to get good results if you use an image editor like Paint.NET (which is free).

Simply convert these sorts of images to black-and-white and then play with the Brightness and Contrast settings until the image looks good.

As an example, I've modified some of the brown pages supplied above by Razorvine:

It took a while to dig out the old issues, here you go:

All-A-Bawd: Vol 21 No 7, 27-29
Service Included: Vol 26 No 6 (page numbers unknown)
A Vast Behind: Vol 26 No 9, 53-55
Party Poppers: Vol 27 No 5, 58-59
Beach Babes: Vol 27 No 7, 58-59
What A Catch: Vol 28 No 8, 58-59
Secret Servicing: Best of Mayfair 11, 33-35
Role Over Darling: Best of Mayfair 11, 77-79

I also dug up a few more, from my old burnt-to-CD-and-forgotten-in-the-attic stash. I've no idea what issues these came from, sorry.

Default Sticky Wickets

From Mayfair Volume 26, number 8, August 1991, pages 53-55, Sticky Wickets.

The joke on the first page is in reference to the fact that the MCC, then cricket's governing body, had recently voted to keep women out of the Pavillion at Lord's Cricket Ground - a ban which has since been lifted.
