Worse, they have to re-apply next month. Only a 2-week wait for that. |

And if I've got this right, the whole shambolic thing is being handled by that fabulous company Crapita!

There have been no increases in benefits for over seven years. An unemployed person gets £72 a week, they get Housing Benefit, which is capped depending on the rates for the area, they also get extra for being a couple and child benefit.
But for a single person it is a nightmare, one of my ex soldiers, who due to his service has problems, currently receives £144 a fortnight unemployment, and £333 (!) four weekly rent, he has to pay £420 a month rent, water rates, council tax is paid, electricity, gas, his only luxury is his broadband, which he has to have because he has to go on the employment web site daily, or lose benefit, he walks three miles each way to sign on, because a bus is too much of a luxury. He lives on the reductions he can find late in the evening at supermarkets, as the food bank is a six mile walk, and last time he went he got five apples! In a previous life he was a sergeant in the Parachute Regiment! |

As an American, the thing that had been most noticeable this week has to have been the plethora of women claiming to have been sexually molested by powerful men after such accused men have spent decades in power.
I have a girlfriend, two older sisters, one mother and one step mother and they all hold the same opinion of the accusations against Roy Moore, Al Franken, Bill Clinton and the rest... These bitches are looking for some money. I literally didn't say that, but my oldest sister literally did. What actually happened? I don't know, but from my (limited) discussions with women, this is pretty much where they're at.

He should be grateful. In America, the Veteran Administration has literally led combat vets To The Showers and left them there for days. There have been multiple deaths.
Of course I drift into sarcasm.

I was on one occasion spat on in my home town, in uniform, the lad that did it made a mistake, the bus driver was a vet, and waited long enough for me to explain politely that Paras are by nature nasty bastards, and use my right fist to demonstrate! Thankfully now people tend to be more likely to say thank you for your service, I once had a breakfast in a service cafe on the A1M, I spoke to one of our celebrities, she left before me, when I went to pay the bill had been covered. Massive change! |

I saw this on TV, isn't the solution to change your pay over to monthly rather than weekly. Most big employers pay monthly anyway. If it's a small business they are likely to be more flexible and monthly pay is easier to do admin wise for them. Many business would also do sub/loan payments to help with the adjustment, I know the business I work for does this if needed.
