The date format was changed by a certain British Admin who shall remain Sam, I mean nameless. Anyway it's been changed back to how us normal people like it.

And no; a member cannot select the way he prefers. It must be the same forum-wide and can only be changed by an Admin.

Forum time is GMT (GMT+1 during British Summer Time ie BST).

GMT = UT, UTC, Zulu and so on.

The full version of the above is a date/time group and always reads day, month, (year), hour, minute, second.

That is the global standard and at VEF when we're not setting global standards, we like to follow them.

It appears that a majority of the people who frequent VEF (those who actively post, at least) hail from regions that adhere to the DD-MM-YYYY format so it only seems right to do it that way. Changing it on the fly was a bit of a start but the learning curve would be the same if it had been like that on my first visit here. I'll get used to it... it's not like I have to learn how to drive on the wrong side of the road.
