What old techonolgy do you still use? - Page 2

Landline no cell phone,never had one,probably the last tube TV Sony made a 40 inch,still has a better picture than the 40 inch LCD on my 7 or 8 year old desk top comp.Still build a fire for the house and shop when it's cold,have two B-model Macks hopefully one will be running this spring,old 40's South Bend lathe and a probably 35 year old forge.I'm as old school as they get,always will be.

Forgot to mention: I don't have a smartphone either. I have 2 old monochrome display mobile (cell) phones. It's the kind of phone that they say if you drop it on the floor, it'll brake the floor or provoke an eaarthqauqe.

Microsoft Office 2007. Much easier to use than the later version, IMO

Unlike the younger VEF members who somehow enjoy browsing the web on a "webby I-phone android thingummy" which they carry around and watch "stuff" on a 3 inch by 5 inch (approx.) screen I prefer to live in the glorious past and use a Personal Computer ( a PC ).

I surf porn on a VM running Windows XP because that's the last version that supported my scanner. It's on a TrueCrypt drive so I can save passwords and bookmarks with some degree of security.

I use OpenOffice for most of my documents but have Office 2000 running on XP just in case.

I've still got like 20 audio cassettes, but cannot listen to them as I don't have a cassette player and they don't sell those anymore around here.

My VCR is still around here, I bet it'll still work if I manage to clean it up properly.

There's a 12 year-old computer that I never use but it still works. I do all my computing stuff from my main PC which is 5 years-old I think, it's single core (AMD Sempron 145).

Although I do use a smartphone, it is so old that I had to remove apps from it because they just won't open, and some won't even fit on the internal storage unit. And my old Motorola V3 Black is still around here somewhere, and it works.

I did have a 15 years-old tube tv until it just died 6 months ago.

I've still got a copy of Windows 2000 and a copy of Windows 98 somewhere on CD
