Default Vintage Slides content, and your thoughts.

Hi, I have access to millions of vintage 35mm slides from late 70's up to early 00' content that was once used in magazines, I am working with an Agency right now, to scan them maximum resolution and eventually put it up for sale for companies to buy the content in resolutions it was never published before. Material by Michael Ancher, Viv Thomas, Jack Harrison, and so on, pretty much the good photographers of the era. I am curious if people like this type of material, and if they would ever buy it. This is NOT advertising..I am just curious how people feel about vintage material but seeing it in the best possible resolution, finally after so long, and what type of photographers you guys prefer ?! I don't know this industry very well, but I feel we need some changes, where it's the good quality material that once was !? I am mid 20's and even I realize it's not as good as it used to. Thank you for any feedback.

I doubt people would buy stuff like this when there's tons of it available for free

Default sell by individual model

There is certainly tons available for free on the internet, but sometimes there is a gal that really interests you and to see entire photo sessions may be worth it.

Could YOU actually make any money? Beats me.

BUT, with a PHOTO index of models to select from, perhaps by years active in modeling, people may find their favorites. That may sell.

Models photo sessions in their ENTIRETY...you know there must be a myriad of photos that we never see as they didn't make the 15 or 20 shot limit for a magazine layout. Tantalizing to see shots appear at different web sites and realize most of that session is yet to be seen.

Would I pay? There are some models I would pay to see their entire library, but only the one's of interest to me.

Feasible? With computers perhaps. Lots of work.

Good luck

yes, and if you would post maybe 20,000 of those millions here, it would be a good showcase!

Rather important question: do you have a legal right to publish the photos, or does copyright remain with the photographer - or the mag to which he sold the pics? You could drop yourself in deep shhh you know what if you don't have rights in the material you propose to sell.

Yes. and Yes.

This is NOT advertising..I am just curious how people feel about vintage material but seeing it in the best possible resolution, finally after so long, and what type of photographers you guys prefer ?!

photographers are irrelevant. For me, what would sell a subscription (or a set of scans) is the availability of a model/porn star.

A few notes on your proposition:

As screens get more high-def the limitations of scanning from print media (of which scans here are freely posted) are becoming noticeable. I've scanned and posted here both from slides and from print and the resolution is distinct.

It would be more affordable to pay a small subscription or buy a set of slide scans relative to paying the current going price for slides on auction sites.

I am in the minority. The vast majority of people download their favorite model's material for free. Don't be surprised if your material ends up here or on countless similar sites, to make no mention of torrents or usenet.

Having watched the activity on auction sites I can tell you:
The amount that you would get for selling specific set scans is probably quite low, if you sold per-set. The majority of slides for even famous models goes unpurchased. I've seen some sellers stubbornly hold to the value of a slide/pic for years, with no one buying. If you set it at the collector price, only one or two people would ever buy from you. What might be more lucrative is providing membership access and constantly rolling new material in, which should not be difficult if you have millions of slides. e.g.: if you have half a dozen sets with stars such as Shauna Grant or Tori Welles you would spread those out over a two year period, with an announcement each week as to which models you would be releasing sets of. I wouldn't post any half-sets. That's very 2003. There are too many quality sites out there posting full sets of girls on a daily basis.

Was the archive, or some parts of it, ever put online?
