I hope this is on topic and probably might require a thread of its own , but I was wondering if anyone has any knowledge of how to restore an image in a post when you cannot see it in a post, but can when you click on it.

I don't believe that there is a fix other than re-uping the image. If you are using the firefox browser which I don't think you are, you won't see anything to even click on, however if you are using the Chrome browser you might see an image that is clickable and it will open the original image. I don't know why this happens but I know of no fix for the problem. They look like dead thumbs but sometimes they still work.

Theres an extension for fire fox that shows up the invisible

I tried it for awhile but it was never 100% accurate which was fine for missing images unseen but not for removing dead code.



You can tweak this tool via options / advanced / 2 unticked options
to show broken or yet to be loaded placeholders

feature fix - with it 1 dead thumb shows up and nothing else

without it nothing was showing

developer has discontinued it and moved to sea monkey with fix now called monkey fix


Personally I'd suggest using several imagehosts and cover all the bases
Its not hard to make 3 caps and upload to iv ibam etc

Again problems with imagebam. Does not work many images from 115 server. Thumbnails work, but underlying picture is often missing. Symptoms are the same as in the servers 105 and 107, before they fail and lost over 50% of all images. Support is not responding - it is probable that the problem will not be solved.

Three attempts this morning to upload a set of 5 pictures with Imagebam, and the best I've managed to achieve so far is three of the five thumbnails actually opening once they're uploaded...

I posted some images from imagebam just a couple of hours ago, and they are already not showing up.
The ones I posted yesterday seem to be all right. Just the ones posted within hours are messed up.

It is not done randomly because there is an algorithm behind.

Every digital picture comes with a unique code (CRC32 = Cyclic Redundancy Check).

This code does not change/is not affected while renaming your files. It only gets changed by manipulating the pic in itself (size-changes/resolutions).

Keeping that in mind, pics that are reported from third-parties for infringements (either XXX-rated or copyrighted) will be removed by the hoster.

The reason for your supposed "randomness" just roots in the fact that -apart from complete sets- uploaded pics get spread by others after they had downloaded them. By result, they sooner or later appear on numerous platforms/forums.

If one (or numerous) of these pics are being reported for whatever reasons, they are taken down and their CRC32-code logged as well. At that very moment, all pics stored carrying the same code will get unaccessable, also yours in case you once have uploaded the same pic too.

Same procedure happens while uploading: Once another (innocent) person uploads that pic from his own stashes (regardless where it originally came from), it will be cross-checked using the CRC-algorithm and you´ll get the "banned"-message immediately after upping.

ImageBam in particular is famous for using a clever detection-software.
