Quote button doesn't work for some posts, OK for others

After posting this reply I went looking for a reason for the text size limitation. This is what I found.

There is a setting on the User CP->Edit Options->Miscellaneous Editor Interface which allows you to specify a simpler interface than the WYSIWYG default. When I switched the setting to Standard Editor and went back to the thread I was able to quote any message regardless of the size of the post. So it would appear the WYSIWYG editor enforces a quote size limitation.

If you don't want to make this switch you could select some relevant text from the post you are quoting and simply use the "Wrap Selected Text" in quotes button.

The WYSIWYG editor in this version of vBulletin has always been problematic. Many times images and text will not show when quoting or editing posts. Since it is a built in feature of the actual vBulletin software, there is no way to fix it. I would advise all members to avoid using the WYSIWYG option as an editor and stick to the standard editor with the extra formatting controls.

I tried to quote the one line of text you mentioned and it wouldn't quote for me either. This is the fault of the WYSIWYG editor, as confirmed by Jenny48549 in this thread.

The "Wrap.." is a button at the top of the text editor. If you place your mouse pointer over the icons they show a text description of their function.

I am able to quote ok but suddenly a couple of weeks ago The smileys stopped working and all the other options under " go advanced "

" Disable smilies in text " is not checked [ Have ticked and unticked this to see if it changes anything ]

Anyone have any ideas, I don't remember changing anything.

There was / or still is a red message asking all and sundry to stop using the emoticons
because their doing something behind the scenes

Maybe turned off because a few are still using them

Yeah I saw the one asking us to stop using the ones in the header [ Post icons ] But I didn't notice one about in the post its self

From memory they appear once maybe twice then disappear because some complained they were on every page they viewed

Yeah I had a bad feeling it was just me.

Another Thing I have noticed When I used to hover over search a pop-up would appear to search from. now I have to go to the search page

When I hit " Thanks " it flashes to another page then back to the TOP of the original page

Anyone have any idea whats happened

Looks as if JavaScript is disabled. For these features you have to allow scripts from vintage-erotica-forum.com and yahooapis.com.
