Default Split archives or single file?

As a Marijuana induced experiment, I thought i would upload the largest file i had to 1ficher and go to bed. People seem to prefer 1ficher and as a free downloader, i get that
I has good interwebs, so uploading isn't noticeable to my connection but archiving slows my puter allot. So uploading as is suits me. But.

How would you prefer to download 5-10+ gigabyte file from a fast service?

You also have to take into account in some threads you have a maximum of 5 links per 24 hours.

I've never seen 10GB uploads here. And I don't want 5GB movies. I would convert them afterwards. However I voted for single file, but I would select 2GB if I could change my vote.

5GB would be an unconverted DVD - but in that case one archive wouldn't make sense - as you have multiple vob files there.

IMO the splitting into .rar or .zip archives is pointless nowadays, if the host is fast enough. Uploaders choose this, because their upload speed is often too slow, while download speed is still decent.

As a downloader I would always prefer one movie file, as you also can use preview.

As an uploader I would have to split if it's signigficantly more that 1 GB. And I would use .rar/zip - as splitted movies suck big time. I always merge them afterwards. Installing all those mkv/mp4/avi joiners is annoying.

IMO: Upload movies not archives. If it is a pure DVD rip, upload the VOB files indidivually, if you don't want to convert. If it is a rip that is bigger than 1,6 GB - convert it before or splitzip it if that is not possible.

10GB would be BD rips in 1080p. Don't think that this is needed - if it is not a special request. It would be nice for Snyder's 300 or Jurrassic Park. Don't need 7.1 audio in pr0n. And at least this is (mostly) a vintage site, so BD rips aren't much in the focus.

IMO 1GB is good size. If it is slightly bigger then be it so. I'd prefer 700-800MB. Smaller is better if the quality is still good. Sometimes you will get bigger files and handbrake takes 2-3 hours, so it is ok, IMO. DVDs with multiple audio lines are the exception of the rule.

TLDR: Make it as easy as possible for downloader. Splitted movies have to be merged afterwards, too big files have to be converted. There is always a compromise. But users that can download 700MB can download 1GB. 2GB is already that big, that you could store 3 other movies with the same space.

I dont really post dvd isos, unless I find something special its more the 1080p rips and you are right, we dont really need Dolby HD surround sound. I can and usually convert them to about 2gb, cutting the sound to 2ch 128kps and 2000+ for the video, depending on resolution. I have found that there are some that do like the full whack, so to speak, so I upload both when I can, with the larger split into 2-3GB rars. Split archives are more useful for people who are free downloaders, like myself, whom will leave the file downloading overnight as a 10gb file would take a long while to download.
There are a few companies remastering vintage porn, mostly soft though.
Thanks for the feedback bud

I think it is easy to get files smaller, without losing much quality. I've posted how in the tutorial section. Of course this won't work with a really weak laptop CPU, as it would just take too long when you have to rely on the pc.

2000+ doesn't say anything to me.
I never bothered about kbps. In handbrake use very slow, profile high and rf quality between 22-26 and constant quality/framerate.

This was a DVD rip by me. 710MB.

Still made some errors there - but I don't think the quality is bad at all. And I also had to deinterlace. Took some time - but IMO it is preferrable to produce a good rip with a decent size. Start handbrake before work/school and then it doesn't matter (if you don't need that pc). That is IMO better than getting as much rips as possible out there.
