In the town I live in the people who donated the land and building our main library must of had a crystal ball as in their donation was the clause that it revert back to their family if it was used for something else in the next 150 years . so things like changing the name would never happen , so 60 years later the land is still a library but not main one but when it was built it had a park around it and serves as a farmers market in season or in winter a place to hold various events

I'd heard that name before, just looked it up and didn't know it was a seaside resort till now, and ...... That's a resort really is there a travel agent there somewhere in Blackpool with a brochure of a resort somewhere else in the world and they use that as an excuse for it being one

Citing pundits who say the 2016 Presidential election marks the rise of white identity politics in the United States, the upper-level anthropology seminar will draw from the field of whiteness studies and from contemporary writings that push whiteness studies in new directions.

Questions to be posed throughout the semester include: "Does white identity politics exist?" and "How is a concept like white identity to be understood in relation to white nationalism, white supremacy, white privilege, and whiteness?"

"Students will consider the perils and possibilities of different political practices," according to the course description, "including abolishing whiteness or coming to terms with white identity."

I don't know where to begin with this one..

Before the 2016 election, America twice elected a black man as President of the United States over two separate white opponents. Black America is roughly only 15-17% of the population, so "whiteness" obviously played a role in these elections.

They're curious about white identity in politics.. I give you Barack Hussein Obama... who, without the white vote, would still be a community agitator in Chicago's best neighborhoods. I'll bet that they don't consider that 8 years of Obama was perhaps the reason that white identity politics, if it exists, is now being realized.

America has its issues.. everybody does. Academia would be better served (IMHO) tackling real issues with real consequences rather than inventing boogeymen to demonize or promoting genocide of whiteness.

Think it was last week,
I took Mum and myself to visit Dads grave for a tidy up and so on, In a moment of silence I remember thinking to myself what a good job he did bringing up 3 sons ... he did that by being tough when the time was right.

That's what lacking today, too soft on kids for the past probably 2 or 3 decades and the result is creampuffs, they don't know any different

There is an Outback Steakhouse about 10 minutes from where I live. I first went to an Outback in 1993, when I liked Midnight Oil. The problem with our Outback Steakhouse is that it's next to Redskin Drive, clearly the type of insult/slur that Peter Garrett would find offensive given his cause of indigenous peoples' reparations.
