I felt some of McCoy's stories were rather dark - but others, like The Greatest Show in the Galaxy and Paradise Towers left a lot to be desired. As I said in an earlier post:

A female Doctor is definitely a step in the wrong direction. The show was never about gender and sexuality. It was about being exciting and scary, but it hasn't been any of that for a very long time!

It's not the same show as the one from the Jon Pertwee, Tom Baker days...and I never really hid behind the couch as a kid. To be honest, I used to think most of the Dr Who monsters were pretty lame. That might have been because my dad loved 50's horror movies and my brother and I used to watch them with him from a young age.
