The tourist industry is heavily dependent on low paying jobs that keep people on the edge of being homeless and a large supply of people to keep those wages low. So the Orlando mayor wants to have it both ways - tourist traps that will be cheap via labor costs to undercut other cities yet with no evidence of that labor living in the area. Maybe he can keep them suspended from the roofs of detention halls with magnetic shoes.

When Mrs Sydney and I were holidaying in Miami, we were staying in an excellent Youth Hostel just around the corner from Ocean Drive, where most of the music industry video's are shot and all the 'beautiful' people hang out (Gays), they just don't show you the others. They are the homeless who sleep on the front every night and in the morning, if they're shooting some movie scene or a video, there are company execs who give the homeless a few dollars to move on. So Voila! No homeless, they don't exist.

Snooker player Ali Carter will undergo surgery on Tuesday after being diagnosed with testicular cancer. Carter received the news from doctors last week and will have a course of chemotherapy following the operation.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/snooker/23129387

It seems poor old Carter cannot catch a break. First diagnosed with Crohn's disease 10 years ago and now cancer. I wish him a speedy recovery and hopefully he will be able to continue his career. I guess the good news, if you can say such a thing, is that testicular cancer is very treatable even when its spread because treatment is very effective in most cases.

I understand your anger no one wants to be a victim. It could have been anyone who stole your lawnmower it just happened to be two homeless guys. Did anyone ever ask why they took it? They may have had a deal for food or transport out of your area in exchange for the mower. The Mayor of Orlando, indeed any mayor, has a duty to all the citizens of his/her town not just the ones who can line their pockets. Arresting people for feeding the homeless that's just wrong and I hope this story doesn't just get swept under the rug. I hope Orlando gets royally roasted.

38 Degrees have a petition for an enquiry to look into the Met's shameful handling of the Stephen Lawrence murder
http://you.38degrees.org.uk/petition...awrence-family

If they tried to smear his family then those responsible should be booted out immediately and stuff their index linked pensions

Massive payments for BBC bosses who were made redundant
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-23125494

Now I have been made redundant once after almost 3 decades working for the same company but my payout was less than 5% of the lowest one listed here.

Mind you several have served there a long time and payouts are linked to both service and pay at the time of redundancy but ONE stands out
Departmental director payout £394,500 employed 2 years

That's some golden parachute

They took my mower because they didn't want to have to work for the money they spend on smack.

The mayor of a town has a duty to protect law abiding citizens of that town from pond life like thieving homeless junkies .

Which compares to a Full General with 37 years service, and several wounds and decorations for bravery of £243000.

Know who I want to get the money!

Whilst I support the call, I really wish it was being led by a white organisation or white politician, not because I am racist, but because it would show that the White People in this Country give a damn.
