The Iraqi and Saudi Abrams are not the newer model, the A2. They are the older M1A1 which has less armor than the A2.

Iraq 2003. 5,100 yards. I read in a comment that "10 Challengers" were destroyed by the enemy in Iraq but have found no sources that mention or confirm this. One was destroyed by another Challenger in a 'blue on blue' incident at night. Another was hit by about seventy R.P.G.'s and Milan ATM having lost a track. It and the crew were rescued. The only CR2 we lost on the original Telic was the blue on blue, I can remember that happening very well.
Later on we had a CR2 driver lose a foot in an incident but I don't know if the cause ever reached the public domain. Whilst upsetting the driver somewhat I don't think it stopped the tank from operating.

Actually, both Saudi Arabia and Iraq have the A2. Especially the Saudis have invested billions in upgrades to bring their Abrams up to date. However, as far as I know, they do not have any reactive armor.

Although the 'normal' Abrams is a more technical average, according to today's standards, he can be a very tough and dangerous opponent in the hands of a combat-experienced, well-trained and highly motivated crew. As in the case of US forces. In the hands of Saudis, he is a moving coffin.

The Saudis tend to only use Their tanks against unarmed demonstrators so It shouldn't be a problem..

Not a tank, it is a mobile low level anti aircraft system. A bloody awful thing to meet if you're dismounted infantry but a target for any decent tank.
