Fans of “Braveheart” will love the film, David Mackenzie’s “Outlaw King,” is the even more violent twin of that multiple Academy Award winner and a gift to “Game of Thrones” junkies to boot. It features the best performances of leading man Chris Pine as early 14th century Scots king Robert the Bruce and supporting actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson as the half mad James Douglas, Lord of Douglas. An outlaw king as far as England’s warrior King Edward I (Stephen Dillane - who was Stannis Baratheon in G of T ) is concerned, Robert Bruce can be seen swearing fealty to a menacing King Edward in opening scenes that happen at just about the ending of “Braveheart” (1995). A haphazard war of independence from England has ended and the Scottish gentry have had their land and titles returned. Robert’s father (James Cosmo) fought beside King Edward in the Holy Land and wants peace. But the brutal execution of Wallace and barbaric treatment by the occupying English forces of the Scots people force Robert to accept the crown of Scotland and try to raise an army to fight the much larger and better equipped English forces. The film is 2 hours long but races by , with plenty of action . Interestingly , I was glad I booked my Ticket in advance a week ago - as it was sold out when I arrived today . |

Nostalghia (1983)
Trailer The Russian poet Andrei Gorchakov (Oleg Yankovsky) visits Italy to research the life of an 18th-century Russian composer who stayed in a Tuscan spa town. He's accompanied by his Italian translator Eugenia (Domiziana Giordano), an attractive redhead who's growing tired of Andrei's depressing attitude toward pretty much everything. Quickly alienated from his surroundings, Andrei longs for his Russian home and befriends the local lunatic Domenico (Erland Josephson), a former officer who kept his family locked in his home for seven years, believing he could save them from the evils of the world. Nostalghia is one of Tarkovsky's final works, made in exile. The cinematography and directing are beautiful and Tarkovsky may very well be one of cinema's greatest poets. But if his visual poetry is to be translated into words, it would barely fill a page. Tarkovsky worldview can be compared to that of a monk. Life is pain, suffering and sadness. Happiness is bullshit. His nostalgia is a yearning for a "traditional", agrarian life in which people's perception of the world is ruled by mysticism. I have the utmost respect for him as a master director but that's where my appreciation ends. |

Tried watching Krampus:Origins
Movies starts with the Prologue as follows "France: The Western Front. The Battle of the Argonne Forest December 2nd, 1918." Please Millennials, there's a new thing called the internet, try fact checking first before you make a friggin' movie for Pete's sake. BTW WW1 ended on Nov 11, 1918 . Needless to say I didn't watch it. |

The Terrible Two (2018)
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5278886/ A year after the tragic deaths of their twin girls, Albert & Rose Poe are still suffering, Rose moreso. Rose discovers an old book about a demon Legion and there is something odd about the previous owner. We do not get an information on what happened to the girls until late in the film when the film jumps up a gear and it's less of the odd noises off camera and more of the girls themselves, but are the twins really back from the dead, and if so why have they returned It gets a 2.2 on imdb but I liked it, not a shocker but it was reasonably OK. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3xpmhE7KOLk

I wasn't aware that James Cameron's Titanic had an alternate ending.
I am glad they didn't use this - it just looks awful. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gEzU_Fw7ccg Rose is a liar, a tramp and a self-centered selfish 101 years old bitch! She is a liar because she tells Jack's frozen body she will never let go and then lets him go to save her own sorry ass. She is a liar again when she tells Bill Paxton's character she hasn't seen that Heart of the Ocean diamond in years when in truth she had it the whole time the past 84 years. She is a tramp because she cheated on her fiancee and back in those days, women cheating on men were considered a cardinal sin - something as serious as committing murder. She is a self-centered selfish woman because there was enough room on that floating piece of wood for both she and Jack. Last edited by Reclaimedwg; November 13th, 2018 at 07:46 PM.. |

Elves (2018) aka Evil Elves on the DVD I bought https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8593930/ I like films with demented killer dolls and small beasties in general and the back cover promised a lot. Killer Elves with knives...... bring it on Oh dear..... when you first see the Elves they are tatty ragdolls and although they look creepy I wondered how they would animate them The short answer is they didn't They throw everything in here, a Truth or Dare style game involving creating "naughty lists" references to the three wise men and loads more religious bollocks, seven elves hidden each one representing a deadly sin, the elves take over people, you can tell when it happens as the voice changes and a CGI Joker style effect mouth appears One of the cast even says "This sounds like that movie Truth Or Dare" to compound the insult.... total dross, I like many bad films but this has no redeeming features at all https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GH8_AB8FuVQ

Not sure why I am bothering, because James Cameron's Titanic is a pack of bollocks - there is only one good scene in that film.
