It's the principle of the matter, the matter being that I don't agree with the current showrunners/writers belief that Time Lords are able to regenerate into either gender. I stuck with it when they did it with the Master; but I'm bailing out now, as the thing with the Master in retrospect was now just an obvious ploy to one day introduce a female Doctor.

We are talking about an alien race, where gender and ethnicity would be as minor a detail to them as it was to the Trill symbionts (of Star Trek lore). This change reminds me of a ST: TNG episode called "The Host" and I think this opens up interesting plotlines - if or when the 13th Doctor meets former companions and friends, how would they react to this change?

But it's your choice...

PS: I'll exclude Captain Jack from my last comment, since I'm VERY certain how he would react...

As I shan't be watching, it doesn't bother me how the writers would get former companions and friends to react to the female Doctor, but let's hope if the female Doctor runs into a previous incarnation, that incarnation does not look to kill the female Doctor off as the Master happen to do to him/herself!

I don't care either way if the new doc. is a woman. They may have overdone it a bit with the master regenerating as what should have been called the mistress as well.

I'm not sure if both females will actually meet, but I presume the writers would consider it.

I'm also wondering if they got rid of the lesbian assistant to prevent speculation of a lesbian 'thing' between her and the doc.

I thought it was a bit of a cop-out ending for the assistant though. Being almost 'miraculously' saved by puddle girl. I thnk there would have been some mileage with her being a rogue cyber-'person'.

I believe they're changing the programme's name to:

"Female lady Doctor-ess Who".

We've had Doctor Whore, The Doctor, Doctor Screw, Dr. Loo and the Filthy Phaleks (starring Alicia Rhodes as the 69th Doctor) and Abducted by the Daleks, which the BBC was able to block from commercial release on copyright grounds, apparently.

I cannot believe these idiots that are saying they won't ever watch Doctor Who again now he has become a she. For heavens sake at least wait until her episodes go out before passing judgment.

I also noticed that a new Bond film has been announced but still no clue as to whether Daniel Craig has signed up for one last time!
