The 80's was my favorite decade - thus the sound track of Valley Girl in my mind was exceptional - movie wasn't that bad either.

24 hour party people .

Inspired by the Sex pistols gig at the Manchester free hall , TV presenter Tony Wilson ( played by Steve Coogan ) co founds Factory records , where the bands have full creative control and no binding contracts with the label . From the faltering beginnings of Joy Division to the drug fueled excesses of The happy Mondays and the glorious mismanagement of the Hacienda club , Tony Wilson's stubborn idealism and naivete ploughs into the harsh realities of the music business . A truly funny yet warm view of the Manchester indie scene with great performances all round especially Coogan , Paddy Considine as Rob Gretton , the manager of Joy Division , Andy Serkis as producer Martin Hannet and Danny Cunningham as Happy Mondays singer Shaun Ryder .
