The Mixed Drinks Thread
I would like to start a thread about mixed drinks on VEF:
I'd like everyone to name their three favorite mixed drinks, and how you typically make them. My father is currently on such a craze, drinking at least two every afternoon, and he got me started again after not drinking for a while due to mood stabilizers I've been taking that react terribly with alcohol. As long I observe a two-drink maximum per day, I'm safe; I can have one in the morning and one in the afternoon or evening. [Of course, I am the guy who had a hangover-like effect from two margaritas a few years back, or one very tall beer at a burger place.] My dad likes the Bloody Mary a lot, but also does Captain Morgan with Coke, or Seagram's and 7-UP; I occasionally have one with him. I like the Cuba Libre (basically just the Rum and Coke with lime juice), the Vanilla Extreme Soda (vanilla cream soda with rum and a special vanilla extract that's heavy in alcohol), or the alcoholic fruit punches I've concocted (blended fruit juices with various liquors). But my fourth choice is going to be the margarita, now that just about every store around here is selling such ingredients. So what are your top three or four mixed drinks? |

You just mentioned two of my favorite drinks.
Here are mine: 1. Diet Coke (regular is too much for me) and Captain Morgan spiced rum. 2. Bloody Mary (but with little to no pepper) 3. Old Fashion (a fam favorite) 4. Jack Daniels Old No. 7 and a Diet Coke This is a great thread, btw! We should also start a beer thread too!

I'm very partial to Jack Daniels and Coke, Rum and Pineapple juice and Glenfiddich with a teeny tiny drop of water

I used to drink rum and coke, but I gave up drinking pop about two and a half years ago. Now my basic mixed drink is iced tea with peach schnapps, although on occasion I'll have a Screwdriver, Icepick (vodka and iced tea), AppleJack (Jack Daniel's and apple cider), Witches Brew (vodka and apple cider) or a Bloody Mary, easy on the hot sauce.
I personally do not consider water in spirits to be a mixed drink, but I am reminded of a scene from The Mary Tyler Moore Show. Mary is helping Lou organize a poker game at the station. Mary: What do you want to drink, Mr. Grant? Lou: Scotch and water. Mary: What else? Lou: Mary, that's three drinks right there. Scotch, water and scotch and water.

Best I can add to this darn excellent thread idea I`m afraid.
Yaaay and so you have AE
Hmmm , although being somebody who doesn't often go beyond a beer I've not really any experience of mixed drinks. Apart from Boxing day 2012 when in my wisdom I decided to down first a half bottle of white wine (No it wasn't originally mine) then Meade (Gift) before starting on several beers. Ugggggggh Five beers in it suddenly hit me. Never felt so bad before . How bad ?. Whenever I closed my eyes it felt like my brain was imploding in on itself and I began falling down a jet black thumping abyss . Uh huh.. I gained the hangover from hell barely four hours from the moment I moved on from that evil (Never touched such since) wine Can anybody else bravely (Ok stupidly) admit similar

No tygrkhat40 it is a Martini made with Vanilla Vodka, Passoa, Passion Fruit Puree, and Lime. It is served with half a Passion Fruit floater (sometimes brulee'd) and a shot glass of Champagne. Beautiful
