For a short time I had a Rolex Submariner which kept perfect time when off my wrist but lost half an hour every hour when I was wearing it over the course of a week. An Omega Seamaster did the same. I asked my mate who actually did an apprenticeship at Rolex about this syndrome. His helpful reply? It just happens. They worked perfectly for the next owner.
I bought a Longines Presence. Unlike most watch brandsThey make their own movements. and this one has a stedown transformer moving the minute hand every five secods so the battery lasts forever. It looks simple classic and classy and its a shame I wreck the straps and need a new one every five years. Last edited by vo1v0d; May 11th, 2019 at 12:59 PM.. Reason: spel |

Last month I found an old Casio that I had not worn for thirty years. Black resin with tiny little dents all over the case/face. I racked my brains till I remembered my mates daughter cut her teeth on it.

I had to endure a few days without a watch - disastrous!
I felt completely disoriented, ans was apalled at how many clocks show the wrong time. Even local radio stations seem to vary by a couple of minutes. |

Could not resist buying a cheap copy of a Rolex Submariner on amazon. When I say copy the dial has a name starting with Q, otherwise identical. The finish on the bracelet was so bad I was in danger of cutting myself on the sharp edges so I swapped it for a Rolex fake. When I say cheap it came to seven quid and five of that was postage. It keeps good time unlike the real version as in previous post.

A watch I did not own but my watchmaker mate from previous post showed me. 18 ct gold Rolex Oyster with 18 ct gold bracelet. The dial was set with pave diamonds, even the hands were thin diamond batons.Bling fucking bling. The trouble was you had to stare at the bastard for ten seconds to work out where in the mess of bling the hands were. Jewellery? Yes. Timepiece? Absolute failure. A gift from an arab to his chauffeur. Genuine diamond (my eyes were good then) genuine gold (discreet acid test despite english hallmarks) but the movement was not a genuine Rolex. Go Figure.

Timex with a passenger
I, too, have a cheap Timex. After a couple of years, I had to replace the battery. When I removed the back, I discovered a dead insect inside. As I started to remove the new battery from its packaging something caught my eye. Did it just move? So I watched it for a few seconds. Nothing. I went back to removing the new battery from its excessive packaging, only to see the insect making a beeline for my fingers! I grabbed a watchmaker's screwdriver and took its head off with one jab.
I had no choice; clearly only one of was going to make it out alive and I didn't fancy my chances over a bug that survived two years inside a watch. Hell, it might have been some extraterrestrial creature for all I knew! |

Didn’t wear a watch for twenty years, but the Apple changed that . . . fitness functions, plus the ability to answer quick messages without getting up and looking at the phone. Also like the driving instructions that give a physical indication of upcoming left or right turn.
Last "real watch" I wore was in the 90s maybe, always were cheap and plain, can’t even remember the brand. |

A mobile phone I assume you mean? I don't carry one, so I need a watch to tell the time.
