Almost over now and i`ve found this an excellent intelligent slice of Sci Fi entertainment It`s very low budget at just shy of three millions pounds (Including advertising ) yet you`d never know it. Love these sorts of truly independent films because more often than not you can see the careful thought and planning that has gone into them Also Sam Rockwell , what an underrated actor

Watched these two last night:-
Solomon Kane Found this very enjoyable. James Purefloy is excellent and Pete Postlethwaite is very good. In the Electric Mist Granite faced Tommy Lee Jones in a very under-rated movie, don't think it was shown in cinema's here in Britain.

Watched the not-the-worst-sequel-I've-seen RoboCop 2 (1990) last night...
Just one criticism of this movie...not enough Nancy Allen!

I just finished up Quintet (1979) with Paul Newman. It's a post-apocalyptic sci-fi film by Robert Altman. It is a harsh nihilistic movie, one dimensional, and exceedingly cerebral. I don't believe most people will fully appreciate the plot of the movie, or even like the movie at all. It seems to be a overly subdued and even pointless film - which is, of course, the point of the story. No love, no passion, no energy, and no LIFE. Death is treated so casually, such a commonplace event, that one doesn't notice it. The rituals of society are gone, the burying of the dead, the saying words over them. The extreme cold has done away with rot and the smell of decay, so the dead are left to the attentions of the packs of roaming dogs.
This is one of those rare films where you have to watch it, then go sit down and think about it for the rest of the night. There is so much subtext in this film that the viewer will have to spend more time thinking about the film than watching it in order to fully understand it. Me, I barely like it. Far too much effort, but I do get it. Now I am tired. *chuckle*
