Alibi (1938) - bizarre old Margaret Lockwood movie in which she is blackmailed into providing an alibi for a stage mentalist.
She certainly was a looker back in the day.

Working my way through my now-complete Andy Sidaris collection. I'm now up to Hard Ticket to Hawaii. I'm also condensing the films as a little project for some friends.

Taken
Liam Neeson: I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you are looking for ransom, I can tell you I don't have money. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let my daughter go now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you. |

Dog Day Afternoon
Director Sidney Lumet made some great movies including Network, Fail Safe, 12 Angry Men and The Verdict but this gritty film from 1975 may be his best. Showcasing a rising star in Al Pacino and the always spectacular John Cazale, it's based on an actual botched bank robbery and subsequent hostage situation. I won't go into too much specifics for anyone who hasn't seen it, but Sonny and Sal try to rob a bank and things go from bad to worse. Sonny, played by Pacino, becomes a very stressed out guy and much is divulged about his personal life. The film contains the "in your face" realism just becoming so popular in American 70's films. Great location shots in New York City and attention to detail just add to the feeling of the era. I remember the 70's and it was a very odd time. This movie does a good job of showing how and why.
