Stacie Halas was or is a science teacher at Richard B. Haydock Intermediate School in Oxnard, California (what a strange name for a school) until March 2012. So far, so normal, and ostensibly she had no particular fame or reason to appear on this thread ..... but of course, this being a particular type of thread, and me having a particular interest in naughty teachers who qualify, there is a small twist in this tale.

Boys being boys, and the Internet leaving little hiding places for a rash past episode, rumours started circulating, and soon the teachers heard of them as well. Oddly the schools Internet policies meant that the teachers had to use their smart-phones to check these tales out, but when it was confirmed, Ms Halas was put on administrative leave, pending a meeting of the school board in April, when she was then sacked.

Her offence? Well between 2005 - 2007 she had another name, to whit, "Tiffany Six", and had been the alumni of such epics of the cinema as '18 and Nasty 46', 'Un-natural Sex 16', 'Cheek Splitters 2', and others of that ilk, some including Pizza delivery boys In all she has 22 titles to her credit (or discredit).

Officials at the school are reported to have sent a letter out to parents telling them to monitor their child's Internet usage, and they were urged at school not to search porn sites for videos which may star the teacher. The superintendent said that "To have Ms. Halas back at school would cause continued distraction and disruption, and it would be difficult for the students to concentrate. I don't know Ms. Halas, but I feel badly for her."

Of course, this being the US she has appealed, and her lawyer (I knew there would be one somewhere), said that “We disagree with the decision by the board to dismiss or seek the dismissal of Miss Halas. It is our intention at this time to vigorously contest the charges. The type of conduct she engaged in was lawful conduct in a business which, while others may disagree with its content, is very vibrant in both Los Angeles as well as the state of California". They replied that "Maybe it’s not a crime as far as the penal code is concerned, but we feel it’s a crime as far as moral turpitude is concerned”.

Georgina Phair, who resides in Cheltenham is a former representative of her country as a British swimmer in international butterfly events, who after her career ended, started a new career as a model, and beauty queen contestant. She entered a number of contests including Miss Bikini World and Miss Tourism World.

Her career, while low key, was trundling along reasonably well, with her taking a role as a swimming instructor to tide her over between modelling assignments, until affairs of the heart took a hand .....

She started an affair with a man in 2008 but after 5 months he apparently felt that the charms of Ms Phair had palled and started to try and end the relationship. Well we all know that the adage is that 'hell have no fury like a woman scorned', and Ms Phiar reinforced the truth underneath these truisms. She took it badly.

She first rang him and said: "You are going to get it ... something's going to happen to you" .... She then poured petrol on the bonnet of her ex-lovers van, before setting it alight and causing an explosion which shook the neighbourhood and causing around four thousand pounds in damages. The fire was attended to rapidly by the fire brigade, after they discovered there were gas bottles in the vehicle and there was a problem potentially of exploding cannisters. She was soon identifed as the culprit, mainly because there were witness to the attack at her boyfriend’s house, which was just around the corner from her home, before observing Phair, fleeing the scene holding a petrol can.

As one said in court, "After I saw the flames I saw a person exiting the driveway and walking towards a blue Peugeot 307. I could clearly see this woman was carrying what looked like a petrol can. I kept her in sight. She walked briskly towards the driver’s door of the Peugeot, opened the door and started the engine. She drove off rapidly towards Suffolk Road. She didn’t put the headlights on the car. I dialled 999.”

So she was arrested, but after failing to turn up in court she was electronically tagged. She was then referred for psychiatric evaluations that took so long that the judge said the protracted medical assessment had been a “damp squib” and she had not been found in need of any treatment that the court could order.

So accordingly, he sentenced her to 40 weeks in jail, suspended for two years, and placed her under supervision against further bad behaviour. She had not committed any other offences in the past 15 months and was of previous good character which the judge said “gives me reason to believe this may be an isolated incident which will not be repeated”.

• She states that she was once ranked 3rd fastest woman in Great Britain at 50mtrs (metres) butterfly.

The title of this post should have been 'Beauty Queens Exposed' Gema Garcia Marcos, won the Miss Alicante crown in 2002 .... nothing odd about this you might think, but in fact in a twist that is a refreshing change, and the reason why I am sticking this one in the thread ..... is that she wasn't an aspiring wannabee taking a short cut to imagined fame, no, she was in fact an undercover journalist.

She had been tipped off about corruption in the Spanish beauty pageant circuit, leading all the way to the the Miss Spain contest finals. So she went undercover and managed to bribe a regional beauty pageant judge, with the sum of €27,000 euros ($23,700). The alleged bribe was offered by a fake clothing company set up by the documentaries producers.

The whole transaction was filmed by hidden camera and shown in a television documentary. What made this funnier was that she was at least seven years too old to compete and barely able to walk in high heels. Had she kept quiet, she would have been in the running for the Miss Spain contest, but she was finally disqualified when organisers in the national round of Miss Spain found her age her age which was over the max of 24. ..... The 'Miss Spain Pageant' then sought a court injunction against the broadcast on the grounds that some of the footage violated the privacy of the contestants. But the court in Almeria province, where the competition was held, rejected the request.

Miss Spain Pageant's legal adviser, Jose Manuel Gomez, said in an on-air discussion following the programmes airing, that he was resigning and taking full responsibility for the alleged pay off. The president of the pageant, Andres Cid, was not available for comment.

The crown of an aspiring Miss Spain "costs 4-1/2 million pesetas," the journalist was quoted as saying on a web site affiliated to El Mundo's newspaper. "I know I have done something that will benefit women," she said in the 'El Mundo newspaper' which she worked for. "They treat them like fairgrounds monkeys". Good for her .... I hope that you'll forgive this little side step from silly girls, to expose the dark doings in the world in which these girls often operate ... (as if regular readers of this thread don't know it already).

Loretta Young (b. Gretchen Young) was an American actress, who rather falls into the forgotten category of this thread. She and her family moved to Hollywood when she was three years old. Starting as a child actress with her sisters Polly Ann and Elizabeth Jane (screen name Sally Blane), she had a long and varied career in film from 1917 to 1953, which included an Oscar. Her first role was at the age of three, in the silent film 'The Primrose Ring'.

Her film career was prodigious and culminated with an Oscar for her performance in The Farmer's Daughter in 1947, followed by another Academy Award nomination in 1949. 1953 saw her last mainstream film role in a career of 107 films, opposite John Forsythe of Dynasty TV fame. Which is where she also turned her attentions when between 1953 and 1961 she starred in the 'The Loretta Young Show' .... her last TV work was in 1989.

Private Life ... A few Oops:

In 1930, Young, then 17, eloped with 26-year-old actor Grant Withers and married him in Yuma, Arizona. The marriage was annulled the next year, just as their second movie together (ironically, entitled 'Too Young to Marry') was released.

She had well documented affairs with both Spencer Tracy and Clark Gable and in 1935 had an illegitimate daughter, fathered by Clark Gable.

Due to the moral climate of the times i.e. slutty behaviour wasn't accepted, she covered up her pregnancy for as long as possible in order to avoid damaging her career (well Gable's, whom the studio cared about). When she finally was unable to cover up the pregnancy, she went went on a "vacation" to England (which is funny when you think of it, as obviously even then, we had a reputation for single mothers). She returned to California for the birth (the studios no doubt had their own doctors for these little 'accidents' that befell their starlets), and gave an interview from her bed, well covered in blankets to hide her condition, stating the reason for her long movie absence was because of a condition she had had since childhood.

Shortly afterward the birth, she placed the child (Judith) into an orphanage and returned to work. When the child was 19 months old, Young announced to gossip columnist Louella Parsons that she had adopted a child and she was raised as "Judy Lewis", taking the last name of Young's second husband, producer Tom Lewis. Judy found out about Gable when she was older but never had a father daughter relationship with him.

She had married producer Tom Lewis in 1940 and they divorced in an acrimonious manner in the mid 1960's. Then she married fashion designer Jean Louis in 1993. Louis died in 1997.

Other events of note:

In 1972, she sued NBC and won $550,000 (equivalent to $2,778,043 today) in her breach of contract suit against NBC. The case had been filed in 1966, was about NBC allowing foreign television to screen old episodes of The Loretta Young Show without excluding, the opening segment where Young would make her entrance. Young testified that her image had been damaged by portraying her in "outdated gowns," and a jury agreed but awarded less than the $1.9 million sought (equivalent to $13,609,846 today).

Her son Christopher was arrested for child pornography and pleaded "no contest" to child molestation .... justice walks when money talks and he was merely fined $500 and put on probation.

So quite a packed career, but now most people under a certain age would be hard pressed to name any of her movies, or even what she did. She died at the home of her sister Georgiana Montalban and Georgiana's husband, actor Ricardo Montalban, early morning Saturday 12 August 2000 .... Such is fame, "Sic transit gloria mundi" as a Roman might have said.

Trivia:

• Mae Murray star of 'The Primrose Ring' was so taken with Young that she wanted to adopt her. Although this request was refused, Young was allowed to live with Murray for two years.
• The name "Loretta" was given to her by Colleen, who would later explain that it was the name of her favorite doll.
• It was not until 1928 that she was first billed as "Loretta Young" in 'The Whip Woman'.
• In 1988, she was awarded the Women in Film Crystal Award.
• When an adult Judith Lewis finally confronted her mother about the Gable rumours, Young promptly vomited before admitting to Judith her true parentage, and stating that she was "just a walking mortal sin" ... nice.

Yes, just proving (as if we hadn't worked it out already), you can't keep these girls down .... Ms Stout has been attracting news headlines again although admittedly in just the local press. When we last heard of her, she was fresh off a number of incidents involving her taking her clothes off in public protest at various events, mostly involving her.

Since then I have posted a couple of picture updates, here and here, but not any new copy. Today I came across some recent stories ....

Apparently she spent time in Holloway Prison two years ago for breaching an anti harassment order against a man, where she discovered a new skill – creating underwear from scraps she found around the jail .... frightening. However undaunted, she then took to the streets of London to display items from her “Rubbish to Rags” clothing range. Outside an Italian bar, she was quoted as saying that “Fashion has done ‘poorgeoisie’, which was about taking new jeans and ripping them, but no one has adjusted to the situation of the economy and the cuts as I am doing with these clothes.”

She then announced that she was entering politics, as founder of the 'New Bohemian Fat Cat Party' ..... her intentions were apparently publicity and the idea that “If I couldn’t rule the 'Cat Walk' I would Lord it over the Commons, and duly informed the Press of my intentions. Politics... dull... who cares… I was just hoping for the funding really anyway”.

Now, she is described as a 'TV presenter and comedienne', (those TV days seem a long time ago now), and she is busy writing a book, an extract from which she sent to the local newspaper 'West End Extra' ... its apparently a stream of consciousness-style work, entitled 'Ingerland’s next Manager & Ur Most Totally Awesome Future PM'.

When it was reported in the Irish Sun newspaper that Miss Mayo, Marie Hughes aged 21 had won the Miss Ireland title no one was terribly surprised as the late entrant to the competition had won her Miss Mayo crown only a week before, making her the last entrant to seal a spot. The report gushed that she celebrated with a kiss from her proud boyfriend and would go on to represent Ireland at the Miss World pageant in Inner Mongolia, China, in August 2012. So all looked routine ....

Unfortunately all was not as it seemed ..... it appears that Miss Hughes may have been shaving a few years from her date of birth, but however it had occurred the organisers were under the distinct impression that she was aged 21. But in fact it came out during a routine conversation that she is in fact aged 25. Now in the greater scheme of things, this might not have mattered terribly, but for one fact. The age limit for the Miss World pageant is 25, and by August 2012 Miss Hughes would be 26, making her too old to compete.

Faced with this reality, the Miss Ireland organisers acted quickly and they contacted Miss World officials to clarify the rules on the age of entrants, but when informed that she was ineligible, they stripped her of her crown.

A spokesman said that "We are very fond of Marie and wish her all the very best in the future. She is a beautiful girl both inside and out and we have no doubt that she will have a great career ahead".

Her agency 'Catwalk Modelling Agency', released a statement saying they acted "in good faith" in entering the Galway model in the competition and were "very disappointed with the way that matters unfolded." She later went on TV to put her side of the story, but the decision stood .... thems the rules.

Fannie Ward was an American (b. Fannie Buchanan) from St. Louis, Missouri. Aged 18 she made her debut as a stage actress playing 'Cupid' in 'Pippino' and she went on to become a successful stage star in New York City. In 1894 she sailed for London and appeared in 'The Shop Girl', which critics reviewed favorably. She appeared to be heading for a big career, when cupid got his revenge and she fell in love with a wealthy diamond merchant, married and retired from the stage.

However, he wasn't a good businessman and in 1905, they were reported, as being "practically penniless", after her husband suffered business reversals. She returned to the stage, but to nothing like the acclaim, and by 1915, her stage career was on the wane, however a meeting with movie producer and director Cecil B. DeMille led to an 'opportunity' to revive her career with publicity. She went on to make 26 films, ending in 1921. She was 50 and just too old to play the younger parts she craved, and was becoming something of a joke.

On January 25, 1952, Ward was found unconscious in her Park Avenue apartment following a stroke. She never regained consciousness and died two days later. She was 79 years old, and The New York Times, of 28 January 1952 described the event as "Fannie Ward Dies; Perennial Flapper".

In 1915 Cecil B. DeMille convinced her to appear in 'The Cheat', a melodrama which co-starred Japanese actor Sessue Hayakawa (who was 'typecast' as a sinister villain with sexual dominance over white women, which ironically later made him a heart throb among American women, and the first male sex symbol of Hollywood before Rudolf Valentino ). Needless to say, the theme of a white woman's degradation by a member of the yellow peril - She was a society woman who embezzles money and turns to an Asian ivory dealer (Hayakawa) for help, with brutal consequences - made the film a shocking sensation, thanks to its mingling of inter-racial and sexual themes. It made her career .... quelle surprise, the 'Mandingo' of its day ..... shock sex themes always sold, although maybe not now.

She married a British money lender in 1898 and divorced 14 January 1913 - then her co-star from the stage and in films, John Wooster (Jack) Dean in 1914 (the close timing of the events suggests a possible link to the two events, but its not documented as such ).

Finally, her main reason for being here ..... her only child, Dorothé Mabel Lewis, was the result of an acknowledged extra marital liaison between Ward and Charles Vane-Tempest-Stewart, 7th Marquess of Londonderry .... naughty girl

Trivia:

• She was known as "The Youth Girl," and she was continually cast in roles that were 20 to 30 years younger than her actual age
• In 1926, trading on her ever-youthful public image, Ward opened a Paris beauty shop, "The Fountain of Youth".
• Her illegitimate daughter went on to become a baroness (through marriage) and her grandchildren were British aristocracy.
• Many of the themes of 'The Cheat' were reprised in reverse in the more famous Lillian Gish vehicle, "Broken Blossoms" in 1919.

This is the last of this current tranche .... I need time to build up a backlog of silly girls. I like to finish each group of posts with a multi picture posting, as a reward to that foolhardy, but loyal band of followers of this oddball thread (you know who you are ... thanks 'Chaps' and 'Chapettes' ).

This is one I researched ages ago, and then promptly forgot about it ... such is life on this thread.

Katrina Darling was muddling along as a vintage fetish clothing model, and part time Burlesque dancer. Her name was little known outside the circuit, and even then was maybe a little specialised. Then came a family event that was to cast the unsteady but harsh light of publicity on everyone, and especially on the females. So when the press discovered her, they had a field day, and her agent saw a window of opportunity.

So she unashamedly took advantage and rejigged her burlesque act, and capitalised on the weak, but undeniable family connection, to firstly get bigger gigs in London, and then take her act to New York USA, undoubtedly hoping for that break through (which seems never to have come).

So: The event which caused this catapult into minor celebrity, and a chance at a few extra shekkels?

Well her cousin got married. So what you might ask?

Well her cousin is Kate Middleton, and she married Prince William of Britain and the Commonwealth .... her grandmother, and Kate and Pippa’s great-grandmother, were sisters .... weak, but enough for a press frenzy
