I always thought it sad that he and fellow star of The Likely Lads and its follow-up years later, Whatever Happened to the Likely Lafa, James Bolam never made it up after they fell out with each other.

I understand they fell out because James Bolam wouldn't give permission for re-runs of the Likely Lads, although we have seen them. Sad to hear of his passing, they were a good team but I suppose you never know what goes on behind the scenes.
R.I.P. to a good man.

The story was that while filming WHTTLL, James Bolam's wife was expecting their second child. Bewes told a reporter in all innocence and Bolam took extreme exception to this. As you state, this led to his refusal to allow the show a video release and Bewes career stagnation meant the royalties would have come in handy.
In one of lifes awful coincidences, I was discussing this with a workmate today.
Sometimes celluloid can be a curse but Rodney Bewes will live forever as Bob Ferris.

BTW. Well done the BBC for pointing out that Bewes appeared in Dr.Who. They never miss that do they.

I would have kept him like Rudolf Hess, deprived of any form of human contact; no books, no TV, no radio, no newspapers; no stimulation of any kind. Just himself and an empty cell with no windows and lights on 24 hours a day. In this way I would have made sure his punishment was bad enough to be worthy of his appalling crimes.

I trust his mortal remains will receive no ceremony and will be disposed of as clinical waste should be.
I read through his arbitrary that someone posted when his death was announced and all I can say is there was definitely some kind of sickness in his mind.
