While I think a lot of the porn stars in the magazine were very beautiful, and would have been excellent models for PH's old softer style, it's all about how they're presented. They were presented as hardcore-only models, in a hardcore fashion. While I'll always prefer PB, the original PH style was extraordinarily distinctive & erotic.

Amen to that. Phyl and I become subscribers in 1983. She was looking for a magazine when she notice the guy standing next to here was looking at the photos of a 3-some. She found the pics of the two women kissing and so on to be quite erotic so she bought that issue. It amazing how life can turn on such little things. She was what we referred to as an 'accidental centerfold' as she never thought of herself as model material.

I agree that they look like two completely different women. Edit: I made an ID request meanwhile.

But all the pics I posted were labelled as featuring Ava Monet. If you think that might be wrong just point me to the correct model ID(s), and add a link, please.

BTW, in the model's thread similar pics were posted and not queried.

What's interesting is how many of the Penthouse Pets -- as opposed to Playmates -- had nothing on their resumes before their layouts or anything after. Ginger Miller is one of the few with a big list of credits before (bikini contests, film cameos, Bikini Cola, VW magazine, wrestling/boxing videos) and after (Robin Byrd, dance tour). Julie Strain and Brandy Ledford also had good careers post-Penthouse.

Alot of the Pets have nothing before or after their POTY appearances...came out of nowhere, and then fell off the face of the Earth. Mindy was one of them.

Perhaps many of them were like my wife (Phyliss Partin - July 1985). She never had any desire to be a model ... but when the opportunity came up it sounded like too much fun to say 'no'. And after a few promotional appearances after her issue came out ... we both went back to the life we had before.

Wow. And a fine pictorial that was, too. One of my faves from that era, just before I began to lose interest in what That Magazine was becoming and the way the fashions were changing.

And I am sorry to learn that Phyllis has left us. That is very sad, she was far too young and that was too soon.

Thank you for your nice words ... and yes ... phyl's death was way too soon; a very tragic moment in my life. I do know Phyl would have appreciated your compliments. Often times when showing the magazine (to friends ... during promotions, etc) ... she would want to know what someone's favorite picture was. She found it very interesting that so many different people had so many different favorites.

If you are so inclined (and anyone else who would like to)... please let me know what your favorite is.

We were both avowed nudists ... so being in the magazine was a no brainer considering the money. But we never would have done it 10-15 years later when only porn stars would.

Very sorry to hear about your wife's death. I will make a note of it in my pictorial index v.2.5.

As for hardcore, I always kind of wished PH would insert some hardcore shots... only photographed as stylishly and romantically as their old couples and group pictorials were. I remember wanting particularly badly for Kristen & Tommy (9/81) and The Bluest Lagoon (2/82) to show some actual penetration!

You know what would have been great? If they had picked a Forum letter from the previous issue every month and had the models act it out!
